Couple of my friends race in mk2 VW golf champs.. There's always low cost stuff you can do. I bet they don't spend too much more than a well sorted season of track days.. Turning up, spunking 5k a weekend and crashing first corner in someone else's car is going to cost you a fortune haha ...
