been out in both tonight :D saxo is geniunely very fast, love it. Clio feels so awesome and we only went up to 4k doing a bit of light load fuel road mapping. fan-frigging-tastic!!
if he's said 3 points, and that's what comes through, take it and keep your mouth firmly shut. Known people get done for no insurance and get 6 points and a BIG fine (£600+)
doesn't sound related to the stat tbh. sounds like the ecu compensating for frictional load on the clutch/crank trying to slow the enigne down, so the idle control kicks in and the revs surge up a little. Bit of an odd one, but cleaning out the throttle body and lubricating it could help make it...
doesn't have a cam sensor
Sounds to me like an intermitent misfire, maybe caused by old sparkplugs, coupled with not getting up to temperature enough to give full revs.
Chenge the thermostat and the sparkplugs and see what happens
it's a 1.2, probably the easiest cambelt to change in the history of the universe. There are no locking tools apart from an 8mm bolt into the flywheel to hold the engine at tdc while you tighten the crank pulley.
I've seen them done wrong, but most places should be able to do an acceptable job...
Not in workshop yet. I'll let the location be known when i'm in, but I do a range of services, basic maintenance, through to whatever you want doing really. Primarily clios of any type, but happy to do most cars.
Happy to have a look at the brakes, should be able to tell if they're working...
