dont fill it full of crap!!!!!!! you'll never get it out and you'll never have fully effective cooling/coolant flow.
if the headgasket has blown, fix it
do you have the renault workshop manual? it's on the fastchips website for download IIRC.
not managed to find a group n build manual yet. Andy has one for the F7R/P and it's incredibly useful
i meant the magazine mis-quoted what it was told. Adam is a lovely guy and a good photographer, but i think he was slighly overwhelmed. One of the articles said the knock sensor was used to adjust fueling........lol. magazines aren't the best source for technical data. wasn't 37bhp either
if the knock sensor is limiting power, you have an issue with detonation. Unplugging the sensor just means you're engine is going to get damaged. I'd imagine the problem you have is down to air temp and fuel quality
not a fan of any iridium plugs, they break up with the slightest hint of detonation. If you're running without a cat, use NGK BCPR6ES, if you have a cat, use PFR6E-10
probably got a bore full of water causing a hydro-lock. could have caused rod damage, but unlikely unless it stalled because of the water in the bore. I'd have a go at fixing it, done a couple of these recently and they're not hard to work on
i'd fix the engine you have TBH, but if you get another one, do the timing belt no question, whatever is claimed about it.
No special locking tools needed
i'm going off the price quoted, and knowing what most of the specialists on here charge. There should be no extra labour charge on top of doing the cambelt, so just the part price at ~£150
as above. Everything is ECU controlled so no tweaking of the dizzy, TPS, AFM, fuel distribution block, like on the cars you mention. A bit of maintenance on the other hand will go a long way. Fresh plugs, clean the throttle body and change the oil and you'll find the car driving much nicer
