bin the 5 GTT off IMO. Old hat. They make power but you can do better.
I'm a bit of a fan of the F7P (1.8 valver lump) in tuned form. Awkward to work on though, personally it would only be an option with ITBs. The F4R (172/182) is a great engine. The conversion is sometimes a little on the...
that's crap. FKs are shocking, the springs and dampers are very mismatched. The only good part is the koni rear shocks.
You're right that fk and v-maxx are a world apart, V-maxx leave FK for dead
7.2 is renault book time for the camblet. 4.5-5 is reality. add about 30-45 mins to remove, clean and refit the rocker cover and correctly torque all the bolts
well the symptoms suggest 2 things to me. Either low oil pressure causing a knock as the revs rise, or more likely the VVT cuts in and thats when you're hearing the tapping/knocking.
Checking the oil pressure is fairly straightforward, you just have to remove the standard sensor and put in a...
wow you really are a timewaster. That post was MONTHS ago
The car had ITBs on it before so not even close to standard. MY post said closest WE COULD DO
you can see similar peak bhp with cams and proper mapping to ITBs, but the torque spread will be less, and the peak lower.
You will LOVE ITBs, and there's always the cam upgrade option later :)
those arches are perfect!! I had a link to some from the states but i lost it when my laptop died. I know the guy who owns that, have for several years. it's come a LONG way
that's cheap. If it costs you £100 to fix it you've still halved the bill from a renault dealer
No idea on vibration without looking, there's a whole list of common things to vibrate
no need to change it if it's very recent, it can be re-timed in about 2 hours. Wouldn't go to renault for it though, they mess up more than anyone. How much did you pay? might have to just chalk it up to experience TBH
all Ph2 clios have steel bonnets, and yes they're a lot heavier than the aluminium bonnet on the ph1 172. Glassfibre or carbon are your best weight saving options

This is a problem. Peoples requirements (or percieved requirements) are endless, their budgets are as small as possible.
4 sensors on a road car is quite viable :S am i missing something?
worst you've ever seen? LOL, that's quite a good one, most are completely stuffed full of crap, and if they've been changed before, half of them are stuffed in and bunched up, not in the correct slot
