Its a 197 inlet on a Megane 225 head mate. Different port profiles. The weld is there to strengthen up the flange after it's been machined to suit the 225 ports.
That's just how it is when you convert the 197/225 head to run on a 172. The 8mm bolt for the tensioner is in a different position on...
@Gerben Visser yeah sport/race cams will affect the dynamic compression ratio. It's all down to the overlap.
That's how mine gave a lower reading on Grp n cam timing compared to when it was standard timing. Nothing changed - just the timing.
@Gerben Visser Technically you have changed your dynamic compression ratio. The compression ratios stated by the manufacturer are static ratios, whereas they dynamic comp ratio is never as high. My Grp n timed 172 engine had lower comp readings and went like a scalded cat. Long time ago though...
I decided to tackle the most hated job I have on the cup today - dash top removal. With the roll cage it's a complete t**t of a job quite frankly, but it had to come off so I could fit the gauge.
Removed - fitted gauge - wired in - refitted. Here's a few pics of it fitted. It'll do!
More to come.
What are the engine/gearbox mounts like? What's the condition of the dog bone?
It's one of the above - OR its internal in the box mate and it needs opening up again. The springs that retain the selector hub in gear have been known to go weak.
It's like trax mate. Just a smaller circuit. Or fcs for that matter.
Basically, wheelspin Wayne rocks up with his best trackie on and cap on back to front. Then proceeds to drive his 'slammed (insert hot hatch name here) on sick rimz' at around 94% of his actual ability. This in turn leads to...
