I'd comfortably run oil temps of 110 - 120 degrees tbh mate. The oil will stand it and it also boils off the water/condensation that accumulates. A good quality oil is a must though.
Cup racers ran a oil to water oil cooler mate. It's a modine type.
I'll be running my mocal laminova oil cooler on the new engine, but I'll still be running 10/60 oil.
Cable is specific to the gen90 I'm afraid. If you ring ktec up they might let you have the software that doesn't give full access, ie to adjust the map.
You may well have to bite the bullet and buy the full access software and cable mate. It's about £150 I think?
Are all the pulleys loose on the faces? I'd imagine the cam pulleys are, but I'd hazard a guess that the crank pulley for the cambelt needs a bit of adjustment with a hammer and blunt implement to get it to move. On every cambelt job I've done on the f4r, the crank pulley has been stuck on the...
Difficult to say tbh mate. I don't personally think it gives much more than 170hp, it certainly doesn't feel like it anyway.
It does give torque improvement throughout the midrange though, so it's got a bit more go about it pulling out of the bends.
The ecu ups the rev limit to 8k (there or...
They vary so much mate even on cold idle. The oil pumps ain't the be all either - trust me, there's substantially more reasons why they have w**k oil pressure.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the oil pump can't be improved because it can and its a worthwhile mod to do/have done, but there's...
2:03-2:04 in a stripped out cup. Was my first and only time there as well so far. Spec wise it's got Ast's, cage, roll centre hubs, brembo hc and ds2500, no lsd and no fancy pants engine. It's just standard cams dialled in to Grp n timing, Grp n ecu, decat, btb and v6 airbox.
Have you ever seen the idle speed oil pressure on an f4r? Hot or cold? I have and its shockingly low!! Anything to improve it is a bonus imo.
I run Mobil 1 motorsport in mine and it's a 10/60 grade. I get it stupidly cheap! Lol!
VIN number is in 2 places mate, the dash and the seat rail. Nothing in the engine bay that I've seen when I've had them VIC checked.
To put another VIN number on the car is a piece of piss. Simply print off the VIN number on your mot/registration documents with a dymo and stick it to the roll...
Why did Renault change the weight of the crank? Simple answer - I don't know mate and I'm not especially sure I care tbh. We've all learnt that the 197 crank isn't the lightest one so at least we all know. Nope f4r cranks don't break, but they can and do flex.
Yep, but lighter than the ph1 172 crank. There's a relationship between rod weight, piston weight and crank weight but my mate who knows substantially more about these things can't explain/describe it to me. A lighter crank isn't necessarily the best way forward in some cases.
Interesting. I weighed a 197 crank and a ph1 crank. The ph1 was heavier than the 197. I have a ph2 172 crank I can weigh for comparison to your figures.
Where did you get them from out of interest?
Doing the wishbones is the easy part. The geo however afterwards is not!! I'd send it out and I have access to oxy acetylene and fancy pants alignment gear! Lol!
Looks a nice car though mate.
