The benefit would be that it makes the engine future proof in my eyes. Competitors will undoubtedly improve their engines so why not give yourself the ability to do the same thing?
This is all just my opinion though. I try to start with the best possible bits to save time and money further...
F4r 830 or 832 head off a 197/200 is a better head to start with. You will still have to rocker issue to overcome, but nevertheless it's a better design in terms of looking for power.
It's not a 100% straight swap but you only have to do a very minor amount of work to get it to run with a 1*2...
Do you have to run a 1*2 There's better alternatives to the 172/182 cylinder head available if you can tbh, especially if your going to the lengths of a fully built engine.
I've just checked mine and the Renault leads fit spot on. The part number off my coil pack is: 988F-12029-AB 9309BA. Worse case scenario is either find one with that part number (you can just make out the number on jays as well in the picture) or just buy some new boots and connectors and crimp...
Did I say I believed what the trip computer was saying? That's why I stopped for fuel. I regularly see 47mpg on the trip computer on motorways though. According to the dash anyway.
Don't use proper windscreen sealant/bonding agent to bond the rear and rear qtr windows in as it doesn't hold them properly. Sikaflex is your best friend for bonding them in.
I get over 400 miles out of a full tank on the way to the nurburgring. That's motorway driving at 70mph and iirc I stopped for fuel at 427 miles and still had 50+ on the range indicator with no low fuel light on either!!
This is in a stripped cup with passenger and luggage plus tools. Quite...

I can't get them out the "back door" though! I had to pay full retail! Lol

Bright coloured wheels rule! You know it makes sense! Not that I'm biased of course! Lol
No mate never had this run up on the dyno. Tbh it doesn't feel like it makes a great deal of difference to me, but then again your never going to feel the 7bhp it claims. I've got the grp n timing tool to alter the cams but haven't got round to doing it. I'm trying to find out if the grp n cams...

Was nice to meet yourself and Tony yesterday! The car is a real credit to you and testament to the workmanship of TDF. I have some pictures of that impreza as well!
In a word, horrendous!!!! I now have a roof scoop to aid cockpit cooling. If you put scoops on the windows to draw the air in you'll end up with your head buzzing and your ears bleeding if you go above 70mph. I speak from experience.
Cups have a 80 amp alternator on them mate. Not sure what effect it will have on the car tbh. Just means your working the alternator more which leads to reduced lifespan and slight reduction in engine power.

I can't see that the pump would be knackered this time tbh. It's mainly after repeated abuse that they cry no more.

Pump usually suffers first as well unfortunately as sam's response shows!
Re: James/BigAsh 182 Race Car by TDF... It doesn't get much better than this! *Pic He
Yeah when it's under load all the time it generates a good bit of heat tbh. It starts to break down when it gets to hot which is not good. That's when it starts doing damage to the pump and rack.

Have you not considered a water cooled power steering reservoir? Shouldn't add much extra weight either tbh. You can get laminova ones as well if your feeling particularly flush!!
It's only cheating if you get caught iirc! And it's all about your interpretation of the rules! I tried it once in sprinting and all was well until the rules were clarified! Lol!
There's a place on Westminster industrial estate that should be able to help you out with the half nuts if your desperate mate. Rockside I think it's called? It's over 3/4's of the way down the road.
