Hi there,
Had a missfire issue recently and started the hunt with testing the coil pack, then moved to checking the plugs (turned out to be a faulty injector after all)
Anyway, glad I did checked the plugs because I found that inside number 4 cylinder plug hole there was some oil standing there...
after further driving I came to a conclusion: on certain type of moisture covering the road the grip is very very poor (when the asphalt is very lightly moistened, a matte-brownish look to it)
Still find it interesting how this is an issue specific to my car setup and not other cars (eg the A4...
Today was raining and colder outside: 1 degree Celsius. Stamped on the brakes and suprise: much better response.
@bashracing - i have no rear anti roll bar. Spring rates are 275lbs front and 250 rear
Nope, I just went for a short test drive. The car was cold and the drive lasted about 15 minutes or so of normal driving. The audi was also cold before we went to see how it performs
I had entered in another roundabout to confirm the handling and it did the same, back end went out rather easy, and the braking test was repeated several times. So if there was smth on the road at some location it surely wasn't everywhere. And even so, we went in the Audi in the exact same...
I have the RSR's as summer tyres in 205/45 r16. And I can tell you they are wider than the Pilot Exalto's and the hankook ventus RS-2's that I had before them in the same size.
So I guess the 195's will be more like a regular 205 tyre.
@glenn_adam_doble
treadwear is spot on - fronts are new, rears although older have about 5,5 mm of tread left
turn in was rather normal, that's why it was a total surprise for us
coilovers set to softer setting - in the summer I run them harder though
I agree it's fun but not willing to trade...
Hi there,
I'm having this dilema for couple of hours now.. Went out to test drive the car after changing a faulty fuel injector, entered a roundabout (not a small and tight one) at about 20mph and the back end just went out!
Conditions were like this:
-dusk, 8 degrees celsius, tarmack was damp...
wow, just was going to post a thread but found this. mine has the same sympthoms, it even has the no 3 plug sooty like yours and the flashing engine light. sounds like a subaru but pulls like crap. changed the plugs and also swapped the coil pack from another car but it looks like a faulty...
Under the passenger seat there are some connectors. Mine does the same and I wiggle them a bit and it stops. Only once or twice a year this happens so didn t bother to clean them properly :)
Hi there,
I have this smell inside the car like wet carpet or something similar.
I periodically check all the drains and they are clear, carpets inside are dry at the moment
This only happens imediatelly after a rainfall or after washing the car and lasts for a couple of days.
Any ideas as I...
Just bought them but they look like they've been through a war, so will have to refurb them.
The car is arctic blue, the current wheels are 16" ultraleggeras painted in gunmetal grey, so I want these painted a different colour but can't decide on it
What do you think goes well with the blue?
yep, there they are! they look kinda cool, only thing that puts me off now is the weight and the 6,5J width. wanted smth with 7j to be able to fit 205's if needed without the tyre looking awkward
forgot to mention, one other concern was heat build up when braking, the small holes in the rims theoretically aren't helping brake cooldown, so if anyone runs similar wheel design maybe they could give some feedback on heat performance.
As for the looks I know there's a personal opinion...
Hi,
Just found some 15" 6,5J renault 19 16v chamade alloys at a good price.
I am looking for some 15" alloys for my winter tyres and my future trackday tyres aswell.
They look like these:

(There's a blue non sport at mid page...
bumping this old thread.. Can't see any of the OP's photos, was curious about the firment under 15" f1's
And also (as I read all 7 pages but ended quite confused at the end) - after all is it possible to do a big brake upgrade -say 300mm discs and espace/scenic calipers- without machining parts...
Just went today and took both real caliper sliders apart, the right side was stuck, cleaned the sliders on both left and right calipers and applied TRW grease. Cleaned the pads and discs after, hope this will sort it
