I removed all the standard CAF and acoustic valve, and used a samco bend and some 80mm CAF from ebay.
Relatively easy to fit (and i'm s**t at car mechanics!), only prob was persuading the CAF to fit past the back of the headlight....ran mine down so it rests on top of the horns in the...
Photos look lush Andy, am deffo going to join you on the next meet - was gonna try and come along to this one but was away on the wkend.
You've done some nice touches since i saw the trophy (not least replace the splitter. lol)
Have you tried Diamond Andy?
My gf had a crash, lost her 2 yrs NCB with Tesco - who then quoted that come renewal time her premium would rise by 40% - so we tried Diamond, who with no NCB and the fault claim declared were cheaper than Tesco before she'd made the claim and with her 2 yrs NCB...
Ran mine without a CAF for a while, sounded horrible though!
Mine needed 80mm CAF.
Has anybody else experienced stuttering at low revs since fitting?..... i.e doing 30mph in 4th so revs under 2k, then put your foot down and my car seems to kangaroo/lurch up the road until the revs rise over...
Seen now i run my BMC without a CAF to begin with, sounded far to loud (and quite s**t) and had no go at low revs - almost like the engine was taking in too much air(?), but with the CAF it has quieted down and feels much more torquey through low-medium revs. Just my experience tho.
Have seen that link a few times before....
Have heard that the ex-demonstator m3's in Cardiff BMW always felt faster than carefully run in customer cars having been hammered from new.
I got quoted £500+ from 3 off the muppet dealers round here.
As a guide, Rentech in Portsmouth quoted £275-375 depending on whether they replaced just the aux belt or the belt and tensioners etc. Thats for the 36k service + belt change btw.
I have just ordered a set from Europerformance for £738 delivered, they reckon they should be with me in 5-7 days.
I'll keep you posted if they actually turn up!!
Yer, we have 54mm bolt spacing and the cup/cup-packed 182s have 60mm iirc
Just enlist the help of some large friends/bags of concrete to create that 'slammed to the floor' look while you wait for H&R to get their ass in gear.
Think i'm gonna be in the same boat - I want to order some H&Rs this week.... I'll let you know if I find stock anywhere!
My two cents: Hang fire for another week or so, no point comprimising the quality of the coilovers just to regret it after.
Cheers Laingo - that makes sense.
Been ringing around some of the Reanult dealers in Cardiff - what a bunch of buffoons!
Had to argue with every single one that the Aux belt needed doing, one even asked my reg plate, put it into their system then wanted to know if it was petrol or diesel!!!!
Thanks Fred, i'm thinking its a complete waste of ££ to do Aux this yr then Cambelt next year.
In fact i need to check my service book. I think my car has missed a service:
Its a 54 reg, but didnt have its first service until June 06 @ 12k
then i serviced it June 07 at 24K
So if I do my...
Car is due its 3yr/36k service soon, rung Rentech who advised £375 max for the Aux belt kit and service - maybe as low as £275 depending on whether he uses all the pulleys etc.
I then asked about Cambelt change + service which is £660, which although not due till next year, would involve...
Think i'm going to take the plunge and invest in some H&R's for the 182.
Currently got sportlines on it, but want it to sit a little lower.;)
I have searched through, but still have a few unanswered questions:
1. If i get them set up to factory spec, will i need the camber adjusting bolts...
Er, blatent thread hijack:
Best price on H&R's and KW's? Anyone know of anywhere with any deals on or just try usual YS/K-tec etc
Oh and Ali - which KW's are you advocating for the 182?
As Julzh said, having seen a few RR printouts posted up on here and the experiences of a few tuners, it seems dubious as to whether the RS had 182PS/170 whatever BHP when it left the factory.
So, chasing 200BHP headline figure is going to be costly.
Personally I would upgrade the brakes...
I need to re-look at the way i have fitted mine.
I have shortened my samco bend, then the CAF bends around from the front of the BMC and i've routed it back down behind the n/s headlight and down into the wheel well.
At higher revs, breathing seems much improved - however at low revs, say...
Jon, unless chris pissed on your chips at FCS, your comments seem very harsh.
From an entirely unbiased perspective, I dont think his questions warranted such aggresive responses.
