Could be any of these, I'd imagine: Strut-top bearing/ mount? Wishbone bush? Anti-roll bar bush? CV Joint? But if it's gone away, don't worry about it! :D

Checked obvious things like how tight the sump plug is? Most seem to have a bit of a weep around the gear selector, so I'd not be *too* concerned about that. Keep an eye on it just in case, you should be able to tell if it's gearbox oil - gear oil smells of cat pee. If I were you, I'd get it...

36, mildly modified Iceberg ph2 172 run-about. Used to have a less than perfect 172 Cup. Prefer the 172. Still hate the driving position but love the driving dynamics of these cars.
