Bloody hell, lucky one Adam. Half way down reading that I thought it was party over for the asstemp-mobile!
Burnt oil does stink, but it'll evaporate in a day or two.
UPDATE- Right, on the way home from work tonight I took the cup to a quiet stretch of road and gave my brakes the most abuse they have ever had, and they didnt even fail once?! WTF is going on? Is it possible that the seal in the master cylinder could have somehow corrected itself?
I am now...
^ Ali and his dad did a proper job with the brakes. Everything was checked and re-checked and the system was bled to perfection. I had a good brake all week until I did some 'keen' driving on Saturday. It defo isnt fade as I had to limp home from Aviemore using gears and handbrake! I bled the...
Right, this is all getting a little confusing now! I am going to re-bleed tomorrow. It is a NON-ABS 172 cup. What is the exact order for the bleeding from first wheel to last?
Do I just pump until there is no more air or do I give it 15-20 pumps as someone said earlier.
Is DOT 4 ok because...
Ah.....
I have done the opposite. I thought you started from furthest away from master cylinder so I did nearside rear, offside rear, nearside front, offside front. Do you think this is my problem?
Originally it was bled using the 3 man method. Yesterday I bought a 1 man kit, but I still had my dad working the pedal. He just pressed the pedal until the bubbles stopped (approx 4-5 times)
The system wasnt drained completely, once the original hoses were taken off, it was just left to drip into a jar until the new ones were fitted.
It is a total mystery, all the hoses are mega tight, no leaks at the joints or the bleed nipples, Its not losing fluid anywhere, it just seems to be...
My brakes failed on me over the weekend. Last weekend I had new discs, pads and Goodridge hoses fitted, and the system was bled. The brakes were fine all week until I did some 'spirited' driving on Saturday. The brakes failed 3 times on me and I called out the RAC. He said he thinks it is the...
I have highsports on my cup, and would recommend them, as long as they as set up right. Yes they are stiff, but you dont bounce all over the road. I dont think they are too harsh ( and I am sitting on a stiff bucket seat with very little cushioning).
Handling is spot on imo
Yeah lol, 3 and a half years without a hitch, then the s**t hits the fan all on the same day.
I nearly sh1t myself when the brakes died the third time and I went straight through that junction!! The lady in the jeep about to T-bone me was not impressed.
BTW thanks for the oil Adam, that's...
Great trip, excellent roads, would love to try it again with brakes the next time :o
Unfortunately I didnt have the camera running when I couldnt stop and went right through a T-junction. A real brown-pants moment lol
Anyway, quick vid;
Cracking pics John, Mine are so sheeite I am ashamed to post them. I need some nighttime photography lessons lol
I'm not bloody surprised, you need to restrain yourself woman :p
I did mine on Saturday and I have been going easy on them all week, with a couple of heavy stomps at the end of my journeys, and then letting them cool down. Seems to be working :)
IIRC greenstuff pads have some sort of bedding in abrasive surface layer on them to speed up the bedding in process.
...To Ali and his dad for their help yesterday fitting my new Brake discs, pads and goodridge hoses. It started out with me supposed to be doing the work and Ali supervising, then we ended up doing a side each for discs and pads, then Ali ended up doing the hoses himself while I watched like a...
Replaced my discs and pads yesterday and they were exactly the same- fine on the outside and worn to fcuk on the inside. infact one of the inside pads fell to bits in Ali's hand lol.
