It is pretty stupid when people take unneccesary risks in their car, especially when there are other people or children with them.
I dont mind a bit of fast road action, but only when Ive got a good idea of the road, and when Im the only one in the car.
It would work but itll look a bit off road, if you know what I mean.;)
If you lower it on 16s it would look good, the ride quality will be a bit affected though.

£1500:o:o:o
Ill have to start saving!! Cheers for the quotes anyway.
Had a look at a VTR today. Decent looking interior although the seats werent half as good as the ones in a VTS. Seemed generally well built on the inside and looked really nice in metallic blue.
Im a bit concerned about...
I used to have the same Infinities up front as you have.I swaped them for some Rockford Fosgate components and the difference in sound quality was very noticeable. I would suggest that you should run them off an amp as you get a much better sound than running them off the head Unit.

I would have thought that if the speaker grilles are there then there should be some speakers behind them!!!! Sounds like the previous owner probably fitted new speakers and then took them out before selling and didnt refit the old ones.
Mikey, Id love to buy a 16v and I could probably afford one as well. But the insurance company are gonna have a field day with my premium. Im only 19 and Ive got no NCB!! But on second thoughts I might just get a quote, you never know!!
On the subject of insurance, according to the Parkers Car...
BenR - good call on the Zetec-s but they seem to be holding their value well at the moment so their a little bit out of reach for now.
Im really tempted by a VTR. Just been on Auto Trader and prices start at just 4k. Dont know how good I look in a Burberry baseball cap tho!;)

Im looking to get rid of my car in about 4 months time, the only problem is I dont know what to get!
The only criteria at the mo is it has to be less than 5 years old and must be insurable (under group 10). Id like a 1.6, preferably a 16v as I want something with a bit of go. Id thought about...
Dont know about anyone else but this has put me off getting a K-Tec system. I know the the build quility is great and everything but Ive been in cars before with very loud exhausts (Novas funnily enough;)) and after about ten minutes of driving it was just doing my head in.
Not knocking...
Its not worth the expense of going with pukka Throttle Bodies on an old 1.2 8v engine. You might be able to transplant a slightly larger single body from a 1.4 or something, but this would be a bit hit and miss. If you want to go further than just the exhaust and filter, you might be able to get...
Visceral, it depends what year the Beemer was. If it was the E36 shape then the 318s had a 1.8 engine. However, the latest 318s have either a 1.9 or 2.0 engine and the 316 has a 1.8. (v. confusing:confused:)
Rick
K-Tec make really good exhausts but they tend to be quite loud (although I think they may be releasing a quieter one). Magnex are a safe bet, excellent build quality and they dont boom at motorway speeds.

Was it the new shape Galaxy (witht he triangular lights) if so they have a book 0-60 of 7.2! and pack over 200bhp so they wont hang around. The older style ones were relatively tame with a 10s 0-60.
Rick
Its from the 1.8 I think but I dont know what year. I would have thought any 1.8 SPi engine from Renault would be suitable. I dont think its a straight swap though, I think youve got to modify the inlet manifold but I could be wrong.
Rick
Everytime I depress the clutch it makes a sort of squeaking/groaning type noise. it doesnt do it when I come off the clutch though, and it only seems to be for the first centimetre of travel.
Anyone else had a similar problem and does it sound like it could lead to bigger problems?
Any help...
Your best bet would be to use something like a bullet connector to connect your remote wire to the Head Unit. It only carries a very small amount of current so it doesnt need a great connection.

Theres quite a bit of room in the doors of the RT, Ive got some new front speakers in mine and they fitted pretty easily. Are you planning on fitting a big install? Cos if you are, be prepared for everything to rattle like hell as soon as you turn it up!
Generally, RTs stand up pretty well, I...
here you go, not sure whether RLs have speakers in the doors, think they might just have the ones in the dash.

There might be some pics in the gallery on the homepage, otherwise Ill take some tomorrow when I get home when hopefully it will still be daylight and not raining. BTW mines a K reg RT.

Building a false floor is pretty straight forward. Take out the boot carpet and use that to get your dimensions. Ive made mine so that it slides under the back seats to stop is moving around. Then you just cover it with carpet and screw your amps/subs to it and it won’t move around.

This is mine on a -40mm springs although the drop is more like 30.

I wouldnt bother getting 15s and not lowereing it unless you do a lot of off-roading
