I had a pin hole in the radiator before and it used about 1litre of water a day! So could possibly be this. I couldn't find the leak anywhere as the water was burnt off. Worth a try, but if the garage have looked at the car and say there's no leak?
All cars run a mix of coolant and water. Just the coolant you buy from Renault is already mixed. In reality your paying renault for 50% water! I'd drain the oil out and check for signs of contamination with water. But it sounds very like the head gasket has gone!
Very bad practice to remove a belt and then use the same 1 again. I personally would have changed the belt, they're only around £15. It's the belt tensioner that is the expensive part and it will be fine without changing!
Going to do this later this afternoon. Anyone tell me where the bleed screw and drain plugs are? Is there a drain on the engine block? Or just remove bottom radiator hose? Also a guide on best way to fill/bleed would be good!
Thanks,
Stuart
Few Pics I took! Didn't get too many as I didn't actually make it to Portrush. Had to go on round to Portstewart to meet the Agent and get the keys for our house as we were staying up over Easter! Got to love the line up on the Boucher Road!
Detailled the Sister in Laws car 2 weekends ago! She wanted a bit of correction to the paintwork and the interior fixed as the seats were badly stained.
Interior:
Hoovered to remove loose dirt.
Wet vacuumed using Vax. The seats and carpets were treated with Megs APC which was allowed to...
Last weekend was the first chance I got to have a look at my 225. Only had her 3 weeks and had been itching to get the buffer at it! As you can see the car was filthy before starting. Well there's no point starting with a clean car!!
So 1st stage was a good rinse with the power hose and lots...
Was a great day! Class weather and a great run! Not sure how much was raised for Charity! Most of the money ended up all over the M3 when he drifted round a roundabout in Larne! Haha!
The only way totally eliminate getting cob webbing is to pc the car then never wash it or breathe on it again! Seriously, as said you can only minimise the chances but u will always get a bit after washing!
Start on a very low speed (as low as it goes) to spread the polishe. Build up the speed, I rarely use it above about 2.5/3. Keep it moving so not to rub through. Finish on the slowest speed to burnish/refine the finish to a better shine. Start with a light polish and pad combo and work up until...
If you do get a Rotary, get some scrap panels to practice on 1st. If you don't learn to use it properly you'll make the paintwork more hologrammy. Or worse still buff through the paint.
