Very nice scoob. That must have cost a fair whack, but certainly worth it. I like the front lights now with the modified cluster affair, improves it over the old bug eye look.
I raced a new shape 2001 WRX 215 bhp silver Y-reg estate and beat it on acceleration (not from a standing start it was up a slip road onto a "deserted runway". The driver of the subaru admitted it also. At around 120-130 i went past with my passenger waving My car was standard. The driver of...

ALSO, im wondering if those 172s with the lack of power had the same problem? - you know the ones dynoed at 160 bhp etc.(squeezed air pipe leading to airbox) as my car felt like it had about as much power as a VTS ive driven, just not the same punch as it used to have. Anyway, it felt awfully...
You know a while back i told you folks with mk.1 172s to try the noise trick by taking off the two tubes leading to the airbox? well, make sure you put them back onto the same holes in the air box, as i found out the hard way (well kinda). I posted a thread about my car losing power recently...

I was told by a race director how to reset my ECU: turn the ignition onto the setting with all the lights on, but not fire the engine. Pump the accelerator 5 times to the floor, twist the key to off. Wait 30 secs, then turn on.
before i had my group n ecu i could take 4th gear all the way to 120 mph at 7200 rpm, now it goes to about 130 in 4th at something like 7800 rpm on the guage. I raced a modded 16v and it was quite a struggle in 1st and 2nd, but once i was in 3rd it was easy to get past.
Why, in the adverts...

VR6man - glad you got it sorted. It feels tighter to drive once it is fixed. I keep looking out for 172s around Liphook but have only seen that one parked on the left hand side of the road going towards Passfield.

Now this may be all in the mind, but my car felt painfully slow the other day. Im always doing that trick where you disconnect the two pipes from the airbox and roaring around with a nice sound etc. But, the other day my car was idling really weirdly after a toasting session on a fast road...

I only fill with 98+ octane as it says to do so on my filler cap door! "98 Recommendo" or something! It idles like a boat on 95 octane boat fuel but seemed to be better mpg on 95 octane? possibly because i didnt want to thrash it. Its magical stuff that optimax..... its like pouring liquid gold...
Stretch £3k more and get the Golf 4motion R32 with 241 bhp/236 lb/ft it should fly and looks good too. Also VW build quality is much higher than ford, renault, peugeot....
I think they cost something like £22,340? (a wild guess ) Its a Quad-cam 24 valve V6 monster being able to dash to 153...
