182s is ok IMO, just nothing to write home about. Any weakness is probably mainly due to driver error hehe. The 197 is awesome, light, smooth and super short shift, probably one of the best gearboxes I've ever used.

As with any canvas soft top you can apply a regenerating solution and proofer which will usually get rid of any mould/green and turn it blacker and re water proof it (so rain bobbles on it like waxed paint). I used "Renovo" stuff on a soft top I had and it worked great.

It is, and the 182 pulls really well I find low down and picks up in any gear really well; I find it lacks, if anything, in the mid-range. I think the Cerbera is skewing his perception!!

Sorry I was thinking a 197 was more like 1100kg vs 1500kg E36 EVO onwards. Even though it's a good chunk heavier.

Why do you automatically think an M3 can stop faster than a Clio? It has got bigger brakes and wider tyres but it weights almost 50% more. You can probably get a better exit in an M3 and the extra torque of the engine to accelerate out of it but I bet a 197 is easier to tip in.
