I was advised to use GIMP, I think by someone on here : http://getgimp.com/lp/index.php?pk=4769
Very good bit of software, free and far more capable than MS Paint.
I think half the issue is my broadband speed isn't ideal but even still, it'd be nice to be able to leave it downloading.
Maybe I'll pop round my mums and borrow her neighbours BT infinity connection as he let us know the wi-fi password. Should be quicker than the pants 3mb connection at my place.
I don't actually mind the interface to be honest, takes a little getting used to as there seems to be lots of bits and pieces you swipe or tap on but it's the pausing downloads that drive me mental.
I mean yeah, I can sit and read the last issue whilst downloading the latest one but it's...
Friend of mine works at a place where they do this and had the fuel cap on his 07 Civic Type-R. Actually looks really good purely as it's a small part that may potentially be made of carbon fibre.
It's quite an impressive process, as said you couldn't wrap some items that you can dip.
Out of...
Does anyone else use this app or have any problems with it?
I love the magazine and the fact that the app version is interactive I find really good. Really does look stunning on the iPad.
The trouble is that the issues are massive (800mb+) which wouldn't be a problem if the app didn't...
Aah ok, what's the wi-fi only, £699?
I usually tend to go for the highest capacity models as well. I'm just very put off by the fact that the rate Apple are going, you go and shell out for the new iPad and there's another a few months later. I know technology moves on but this last 12 months...
I picked up a Griffin Survivor case for my iPhone 5, yes it's ugly as hell but it's also solid as hell with it. Cost me £22 from HMV in their blue cross sale.
I'm wary now of cheap cases that claim to be made by a brand. Bought a Griffin Survivor off E-bay for £20 when they retail for £50 and...
Well I certainly don't think a 128gb iPad is a bad idea, people now rely on their tablet as a laptop so it makes sense.
The only thing is that they are now just reacting to the market not leading it. The new Surface is due to have 128gb so Apple are merely responding to that.
£739 puts it...
I couldn't tell you which is best as such as I've never done a big comparison but I have an Apple TV box which works perfectly well for me.
The only thing I find is frustrating is that it doesn't like streaming when I have my iMac on (connected via ethernet cable to the router) and then try to...
To be fair I use my iPad for nothing more than fannying about. I have not constructive use for my iPad at all.
I use Tapatalk, e-mails, web browsing and reading Evo interactive magazine which is awesome!!!
A mate of mine got the Mini for Christmas and brought it over for me to have a look at.
Have to say it was exactly what I expected, beautifully made, slick and like most things Apple it did exactly what it says on the tin. The size/weight is ideal for making it more portable, ideal for...
I got one of these recently for backing up my Mac - http://www.maplin.co.uk/2tb-seagate-expansion-desktop-hard-drive-264482
Nothing too fancy, has an external power supply but works well with the Timemachine software so I'm pleased with it.
All the phone does when you tether is send out a standard wi-fi signal that can be picked up by any wi-fi device.
So if it's an iPad it'll just search it out as a wi-fi signal like it would a router at home or free wi-fi at a hotel. :)
So to the OP, no it doesn't have to be 3G. :)
I love my Apple TV box, stream movies from my iMac but also rip all my CDs to it as well so stream my movies to it. Connected via optical lead to my amp so don't need the TV on to play music either.
In that case go for one of the Nexus models. Admittedly I have an iPad 3 and would recommend an iPad as the first choice but price is obviously a factor as they're not cheap.
I also have a Nexus 7 tablet and it does everything my iPad does and it does them well, plus the screen is extremely...
I had a Sony Walkman 4gb MP3 player for a while before I got my iPod. Was pretty good and the battery life was great.
End pulled off and it was basically a USB stick with a screen, cost me about £40 from Currys.
Well I bought myself a Nexus 7 tablet last weekend and I'm well chuffed with it!!
It's the first Android device I've owned but already own an iPad 3, iPhone 4 and 5. There's going to be a huge market for a cheaper alternative to Apple products. In a way I prefer Apple's iOS for a phone and...
I currently have an Apple TV box and am really pleased with it, streams perfectly from my iMac where I have various movies and a large part of my CD collection ripped to MP3. To the point I don't play my CDs directly anymore and just through the Apple TV box.
Also, have literally just...
I have to admit I've been really impressed with it's ability to let you be heard in a really busy area. Was speaking to my Mrs and she said it sounded like I was indoors yet I was walking down a main road in central London.
It's all the small things they've improved on the 5 that makes it...
My mum has bought me one for Xmas as the power button on my 6th Gen packed up and it is now sat on the doc in the kitchen.
Thing is had intended on making my old iPhone 4 a dedicated music device having got the 5 but it's just too bulky to pop in a shirt pocket when I commute. The 6th Gen was...
I bought one today, spent a few hours playing with it and must admit it's a very good bit of kit. Certainly as capable as the iPad (I have an iPad 3), screen is clear and it's obviously very good value in comparison.
Doesn't feel as designer as the Apple products, I've always found them to be...
I've been intrigued by the whole Raspberry Pi thing as I have little knowledge of it but it sounds pretty cool.
My understanding is that it's a basic computer, the storage is provided in the form of a memory card and you stream stuff to your TV? Is that right?
It's £60 different going from a 16gb iPad Mini to a 16gb iPad 2. I'm pretty sure that if people really wanted the larger version they'd manage to scrape that vast difference in price together. ;)
The iPad Mini is a good idea and makes the iPad even more portable, perfectly suited to carrying in...
Well I went for the current/previous whatever you call it 27" iMac a few months back and I'm hugely impressed by it.
As for the new one, well the internal spec seems a reasonable upgrade as you'd expect. Plus, the thinner screen is a nice touch but there's just a couple of flaws for me.
The...
Personally I wouldn't touch a set of Beats, I've listened to them and wasn't that enamoured with them. I've known a couple of people with them and one set packed up within 6 months, the others just didn't feel especially well made.
I personally wouldn't spend the kind of money on them as I...
Credit to them, it looks like a good range of products and there's definitely a market for another brand to step in to the whole tablet market.
I mean I've got a fair few Apple products and I personally think they're worth the price but many don't and many people are quite anti-Apple. They...
Do you find any issues streaming off wireless devices?
Music starts ok but if I skip tracks it stutters as the next track starts. I'm using a Netgear Rangemax and not especially old.
