Yeah I have to agree it does look stunning, visually one of the most impressive apps I've used.

All the phone does when you tether is send out a standard wi-fi signal that can be picked up by any wi-fi device. So if it's an iPad it'll just search it out as a wi-fi signal like it would a router at home or free wi-fi at a hotel. :) So to the OP, no it doesn't have to be 3G. :)
