Just ordered a blow torch too so I'll give some heat a try when that arrives. There's little left, I wondered whether to keep going and remove the head that way but thought better of it. Lol
Well got myself a cold chisel, small one, had a go and all it was doing was eating the bolt. No movement at all no matter how I hit it, or how many times I moved the chisel and tried different angles. Gutted!!
Is my only option now to drill it? Carbide drill bit?
I changed a 5 screen which was surprisingly easy. However the screen I purchased was cheap and didn't last long really before being hard to use. (Either that or I messed up) get someone else to do it. There's always people on bookface who do it.
Took the spark plugs out today to show how they look. Apart from the ring of rust around the base of the ceramic, they seem ok but the car still runs lumpy. Can anyone 'read' spark plugs? @bloke or any other resident experts.
Fitted the new ballast thanks to @cs_dave, now have two xenons and won't get flashed/stopped!!
Next to do is get some springs and then try and like the car so I keep it!
No I meant rubbish drill and bits. Problem is the bolt hasn't snapped straight so I tried to drill into it and slipped off centre (due to my stupidity)
I'll pick up a chisel tomorrow and hope that works and then fingers crossed the bolt will come out with mole grips.
Are they known as cold chisels? I'll pick one up tomorrow and see what mess I can make of it with that! Lol
Fingers crossed I'll get the bolt out once the discs out of the way.
it was an Allen fitting which rounded. I tried with the shocking drill and bits and just messed it up. I could get a cobalt drill bit but if the chisel idea will work I'll try that. A flat headed screwdriver being hit at an angel did nothing but cut into it.
As above, anyone local able to get a wheel bolt out please? The head snapped off and left it in the hub.
Also can't get the disc off because the retaining screw is rounded. I've tried drilling but can't do it.
Thanks
Check the ball joint bolts through the bottom arm. You may not have done them up tight enough, or broken off your track rod by putting your wheel back on....;)
Hi. Sorry to hear about our smash. I believe that they are a straight swap mate, connectors should be the same. Although surely a xenon would be better as they are much nicer headlights?
Brilliant thank you both. @MicKPM nice to have you back on the forum. This heap will probably be winging its way to you at some point in the near future, especially if I can't solve the running issue.
Should the car die if you unplug the map sensor while it is running? I unplugged mine (ph2 172) and the car cut out. Is that normal or does that mean it's not working properly?
Does anyone know if the car should still run if the map sensor is unplugged? I unplugged mine and the engine stopped. Is that normal?
I've fitted genuine leads today so that just leaves the plugs to be changed when I can.
I believe it's at the rear of the cat, they get rid of the olive joint (where the gasket goes) and replace it with a straight sleeve section. Most exhaust places will be able to do it, call around some of the small places they'll be cheapest and probably more efficient and effective.
When I changed my oil last I had to resort to ramming a screwdriver through the filter as the strap undoer wouldn't work.
Sad news on the injector. Wonder if anyone local to you off here has any? Whack a wanted post up asap.
Oh and whenever I work on the car something invariably goes wrong and...
That's a good smart repair mate, might have to get in touch with your man to tidy mine up when I'm ready to have it done!!
Loving the progress you put in on it, you just get on and do!! I start and give up. Lol
Now I know why you didn't look in the slightest bit impressed when I opened up the bonnet!! Ha. You could see bits wrong that I hadn't even noticed no doubt. Lol
Mmm @STEVE.M that's an interesting thought and suggestion. Is that something that can be adjusted without the belts being changed? I know specialists can check it? I'll get in touch with someone and see if they can check it/adjust it if so.
They will definately fit. You can pull the seat forward, put the rear seats down from there and then put them into the car/boot from the front. Or they should fit on the back seats side by side.
