The story begins on Boxing day, i was bored as most people are on that day so decided to take a look on eBay. I didn't even need to replace my car I was just bored of it ha. So I found this with a short time left on the auction, description seemed OK so i stuck a bid in and I won! This is my first sport, I am normally a Honda or Japanese car guy (spent many thousands building my old Civic EG), but i have had a few Frenchie’s in the past. I always fancied one of these so thought I would give it a go! The car itself is in good condition, i was surprised when I went to check it over and took it for a drive. As with all cars now I have been using it for a couple of weeks the faults start to creep out.
Now i really should be saving to move out, but i can't help spending money on cars. I'm sure for a lot of you guys it’s the same, the car makes me happy so why not! I do 110miles a day and its doing around 40/1mpg which was a big surprise running on Vpower. Yesterday was the first day i pushed the car hard around some lanes, despite the s**t Jinyu tyres it actually handled very good. I was impressed!
So time for a couple of pictures then we can talk plans.
Only just noticed my thumb got in the way! That was this morning in the work car park.
As with most, the steering wheel has perished. I have been speaking to Royal Steering Wheels in Aylesbury and I'm going down on the 28th to have the new wheel fitted
Next purchase was the rear number plate light as it was pretty past it! So gave the recess and the connector a clean before refitting with the new item. I also threw out the engine cover as it was nasty and broken in several places, it was just rattling around making noise. Will need to source a replacement at some point.
So driving to work this morning and onto the M1 and the lights came on, having a quick search could be the brake pedal switch so I have ordered a new one of those from K-tec and a code reader for future use.
So what are the plans? Well the car has 130k on it and the paperwork is a bit suspicious, the service book was stamped at 65k for the belt being done at a specialist and it was supposed to have been done 9k ago, but the paperwork doesn't seem right to me. With that in mind I have booked the car in at the start of Feb with Engine Dynamics for a Vehicle Service Code D with the uprated Gates kit, VVT + WP, wheel alignment and check the balancing on the front wheels as I have a nasty vibration at 60+. I am really looking forward to Andy going over the car to make sure it's not a lemon and we can fix any other faults hopefully while we are at it.
Once the car is back with me I have a lot more things I would like to do and will be purchasing more parts. Stay tuned for more updates and I will get some more photos of the car shortly!
