Trouble with the MK1 172 is that there is big difference (too big) between 4th and 5th which make 5th pretty much a cruising gear only. The MK2 has much better gearing for driving fast (tho the MK1 handles better ;))

I bought some speakers from them a couple of weeks ago...arrived next day! No complaints from me..:D

I nearly bought the DEHP77MP but was put off by the small display. It limited what could be displayed from ID3 tags within MP3s and RDS radio. I went for the DEH-P80MP which I love. I just dont like the look of Alpine units!

My 172 has that annoying whistling noise...anyone know what it is?? I hear a lot of cars making the same noise. Kinda like the fan belt slipping or something. Is it easy to sort out? [Edited by geordiepaul on 25 October 2004 at 11:01am]

Youll be able to get the stalk to work...but I think youll be lucky to get the display to work! Since Ive had mine done I havent missed the display wo be honest, the new head unit has its own display which is better anyway.

Need some tyres in 205/40R16 and I can only find the following... Federal SS 595 Avon ZZ3 Marshal KU17 Yokohama Parada Spec-2 Anyone had any experience on a Clio? They will be going on my MK1 172. CTR owners swear by the feds! The Avons are the cheapest unless anyone know anywhere else...

I had a powerflow and I got it replace on friday. The powerflow was the worst thing I have seen or heard on any car ever! Since Ive had my custom exhaust fitter the cars feels more torquey low down and pulls harder top end. IMO dont ever consider powerflow. Every dealer I consulted before...

IMO the CTR is a better track car. Simply because the mechanic will stand up the abuse of track day use the gearbox and the engine in particular. And if you gave a racing driver both cars to drive round a track (both cars standard) I would have to put my money on the CTR posting the faster lap...

I did mine the other day...dash comes off easy but tweeters are a pain to fit especially if you use the standard housings off the old ones! PM me if you need a hand.

Agreed! My 172 pops and bangs...but thats the powerflow exhaust which is getting taken off on Friday so if you want pops and bangs you can have that.

I had them on my MK2...ok but not the greatest in the dry. Found them to be ok in the wet though, contradicts most people on here but thats how I found them. Pretty hard wearing to

Yeah true! Im sure Ive seen a graphite coloured HU which would look better than the black of the Apline or the Silver of Most Pioneers. Cant remember what it was though!

I dont like the look of Alpines but thats me, not doubting their ability though!
