BBA Reman are a good company - I've sent a few ECM's to them myself but the price isn't *that* great. Granted you're happy with them and that's all that matters but to put it into context all they would've done is swap the flasher relay which is soldered to the PCB and waas proberbly fubar'd...
I didn't charge z8jay that to drive to his house on a Sunday and swap his for him... deffo don't pay someone a tonne for what is sure to be a cheap £35 coilpack from an autofactors.
Mick
It can happen as unburnt fuel gets thrwon thru the CAT... Causes it to over heat and smell.Jude, a coil pack you can change yourself mate they're easy! Just make note of the order the plug leads are in.Mick
The UCH itself will be covered by 12months warranty no matter what but I suspect the UCH itself will be fine and it'll end up being a connection issue or possibly even a key.How many keys do you have coded for the car at present? If you have a spare give it a go to see if it works.Mick
New, they're fairly pricey but one from a scrap yard car will be fine... Scenic, Lagunga, Clio all use the same MAP Sensor.CAT needs unbolting and the engine running to rule out a blockage/collapse issue. Its pikey but 100% functional
I'm a business that specialises in looking after Renaults properly for those that just want their car to be right and not just Clio's and I've currently got an Espace IV 3.0 on the ramp for a timing belt. I'll help anyone that genuinely needs it and asks but I won't work for free. Ive got no...
I don't think i've ever used the stupid 8mm keyway on these tensioner units for this very reason - Don't buy the proper tool!!!
It is fine for use on other F4R vehicles but on the Clio II there's no room for it so save your cash and either make your own NASA spec tool or do as above...
I like your Nan already! Pics? :p
Its a keyless/floating sprocket setup similar to the Ford Zetecs so you must use all the correct locking tools of which there are three items. Get it wrong and worst case you'll rebend all the valves you've just replaced or the engine will run but it'll be...
Re: Mystery fault--electric fault light, ESP, MAP, TPS, and rev limiter.Help me ples
Simply unplugging the MAP Sensor will not allow it to run perfectly no, it will run in a safe-mode via a known set of values. It will then throw up a seperate error stating "MAP Sensor - No signal/Open...

You'll need the wiring loom "Pin-out" diagram really but failing that, inspect the loom for obvious signs of damage cuased by trapping and then go point ot point with a continuity or diode test.
Mick
Gearbox side of cylinder head, remove the inlet camshaft end cap and see if you can rotate the camshaft slightly with ease... if you can its D-U-N
End caps are consumable items so be sure to have a new one to hand
I've never done one on a Clio III but its the same unit on the Megane CC - normally you pull them away from the direction of the lock bolt. Just mind the plastic locating tabs as they can sometimes prove to be a "See You Next Tuesday"
Mick
Dephaser is the most likely cause i'm afraid but this can be checked by a garage/specialist for a small fee before you have to spend out a wedge. Where are you based?
Mick
Don't be a pikey, removing the SERV light isn't nice and the new owner will find out in the long run.
The cause of the flashing SERV can really only be a configuration issue IF its to do with the new UCH that they fitted... are we sure it was a 100% brand new N2/N3 unit from Renault and not a...
Simple job this - Remove the trim panel or, if you're brave bend it out the way enough to get your hand in. Then disconnect the multiplug before removing the clip that hold the motor assembly in place. After that you just wiggle it about and lift it clear.
I've got a customer with an F4R Scenic who is on 96k plus pocket change and still on his original depahser... he gets me to service it every year regardless of mileage. When I did the timing belt I advised it as Fred does but it was solid with no signs of play so the guy said leave it - Still...
Re: Mystery fault--electric fault light, ESP, MAP, TPS, and rev limiter.Help me ples
Sorry, i've not read all the above... what exactly is the issue as the "Change it and see" approach is not how I prefer roll (nor do advise others to do it). What software/hardware did you use to obtain the...
FFS I really need to populate my forum section... I do that for £25
I suspect a configuration "issue" has occured when they ran REPROG - its possible that they're using a clone or even downloaded REPROG as its all on Ren.net these days. Take it to a proper specialist to get it sorted ;)
Mick
Erm, you've got a lead trapped/caught/stuck between the top of engine and the underside of upper inlet plenum which causes a better path to earth and/or breaks the insulation.Mick
I'm based in Nottingham and have Liams '197 coming in for the same service on Thursday - Timing belt, Water pump, Etc.Give me a call if you want a price... Will be around £450
