Not really, just Renault are rob-dogging b******s :pI can get a new N3 for just over £200 then £20 for the access codes and an hours work fitting and doing the CLIP work... Easy money if I'm honest. Could be greedy but there's no point.
To do the job properly requires the head to come off and a time-sert fitting. Heli-coils are cheaper but they are w**k; it will unwind either on its own or when the plug is removed next time for servicing which is why you must tell any garage working on your car that it has one fitted. Also, to...
Cylinder head > Right hand side > thermostat housing > only sensor on that side.Disconnect the plug > 21mm ring spanner > undo sensor > put finger in hole to stop coolant going everywhere > quickly replace sensor > top up coolant resevoir.
If you have RAC/AA cover call them out and tell them under no circumstances are they to attempt to start the vehicle and that it needs recovery to a local garage of your choosing... It might work
I agree with Danny - the only thing that worries me is that based on the initial video clip, it only seems to rattle/tap on aggressive throttle/load not progressive throttle/load which is why i suspect an oil pressure fault (Blocked or failing oil pump, low oil level, other?)
You reallly...
I'd go with the Motrio range of filters myself.... exactly the same part but in different packaging and a price of £8 vs £17
Glad you're all sorted though and it was nice to meet you all at Donnington.
Mick
Honestly, I wouldn't trust the RAC/AA to diagnose this and would start by checking the dephaser for signs of free play at cold and go from there. Personally, to check mechanical oil pressure, diags and insepct the dephaser I'd charge an hours labour which is £35.
Yes, normally its by reading the actual repair manual and not looking at the process on AutoData (Which is wrong).
The "timing plugs" as you call them are but two parts of many which must be replaced under the parts repacement scheme on the F4R engines. Its essential these parts be changed as...
Assuming its on a MkII Punto it'll be obvious to find. Do not remove the TB from the car with the ignition on or switch on the ignition with the TB removed else you will need to re-align the CAN-Bus network for which you need a pretty decent level diagnostic kit (Same is true for all Fiat and...
Idle air circuit fault... get it serviced properly (By that I don't mean an oil and filter change). It'll need the IACV/Throttle body thoroughly cleaning out.
Mick
Dephaser pulley check, Oil pressure measuring and a proper diagnostic session is next i'm afraid... It needs a CLIP really not a generic code reader putting on it.
Where abouts are you?
Mick
Ideally I need to see it i'm afraid mate... could be an ECM AC request fault (if you're running a "modified" aka de-coded F4R Sirus ECM), a bad or back feeding earth on a circuit or a simple short to earth somewhere.
Mick
The UCH is the magical box of electrics that controls pretty much every function of your vehicle that you take for granted:
Electric windows,
Lights,
Indicators,
Central locking,
Security,
And more
The last one of these I did for a CS member was £300 supplied, fitted and coded - that was for a...
Without a proper diagnostic that can connect to and perform "Actuations" on the UCH whilst monitoring the live data no, i'm afraid not. If you're anywhere near Nottingham pop it in and i'll do the diagnostic and pull the UCH for a visual check of the PCB and components for £35.
I've tried...
You've most likely got an earth issue OR a coolant temp sensor fault - Not really something I can advise on without seeing the vehicle i'm afraid.
Mick
Does the vehicle sound like it has compression or does it seem to be turing over a little too easily despite the cranking speed being slower? Is the aux belt on properly? Check the entire belt run to make sure nothing has broken as i've seen alternators fail with broken castings and they tend to...
Forgot to add that the expansion caps on the coolant resevoir can fail after time to.... this can cause over heating as the system pressure leaks out the top so the coolant doesn't flow correctly. Check the above first though - Can give me a call tomorrow if needs be on 07807-190657 if you need...
Fred's not bad for a ginger bloke (hehehe, he's not really ginger). You'll deffo get a good service from him but if you're looking for comparisons I charge £180 for the timing belt, water pump and coolant change on a 1.2 16v using genuine parts, book stamped, paperwork and warranty.
Just...
Firstly, bad time to be sat on the sofa next to the missus viewing CS... pictures of strange women appearing on my screen set off alarms in my house.
Initial thoughts on the problem would be Air lock if someone has recently been playing with the coolant circuit. If the system is right it starts...
