I'll take things one step at a time.
I desperately want to keep it and turn it into the car I have in my mind. Just getting it driveable is the first step. After that, I have some awesome plans for it :)
Baby steps for now :)
Amazing.
Quick, and very stupid question, what do you focus the camera on when shooting stars?!
I mean, how do you stop it being out of focus.
Yes, I'm a 10/10 noob :o
The damage I have seen is in areas that won't require parts to be removed.
If the whole thing needs doing, I'll build it up and sell it.
I cannot take it all apart again, it's taken so long and so much effort to get it to this stage, I can't do it all again.
The painter has gone on holiday, he spoke to me before he left and said even if he comes to look at it before he goes, he can't fix it until he's back, which is a fair comment.
He said he stands by his work and stands by his word, so I can't complain too much.
He's a sound enough guy, so I...
Come on guys, I know there's got to be a few of you going.
Convoys are great fun, and a good way to get some photos of your car on the road, as there is usually someone with a camera!
Lets get some names down!

Did the sunroof today, sounds an easy job, but I wasn't the one who removed it, and it was pretty tricky to get it fitted. Two minds make light work of it though and Jon.G was round to help out :)
Needed to recover the underside of the sunroof before fitting it.
New headlining:
After...
Chrome trim fitted today, had a bit of a nightmare with the trim on the side glass, but we got there.
Also, new rubber stop for the petrol cap:
New pins for the door check arms:
Should get a fair bit more done tomorrow.
:)
Jon.G and I won't be going to CSS as we're away, but if you need any help with sending PM's out to the NW members, or organising the convoy just give one of us a shout mate.
Yeah, drop me a PM if you would?
Daft question, but the wheels have valves in them. How would that work with regards to powdercoating? Would they not get blasted off?!
Hmmmm I suppose for an extra fiver or so, powdercoat would be decent.
I might give a local place a ring, see what he'll charge.
The painter is due to come this week, I'll see what he says, then I'll decide how sensitive a subject it is! :)
In the house, so average room temperature? Could leave them for longer tbf, there's zero rush on them.
Just totted it up on eBay and it's looking at around £80 delivered for the lot, that's 12 x 500ml of primer, 6 x 500ml colour & 6 x 500ml lacquer.
Happy enough with that, £20 per wheel.
Yeah, I was going to leave the lacquer a week or so before final wetsanding.
eBay primer seems cheap enough, and I don't mind the odd blemish as I can sand it out/put up with it.
I presume you mean wetsand the final coat of lacquer, then machine polish it back up?
Yeah, with the wheels on the RB I worked all the way to 2000 W&D on the colour stage, so I'm happy to put in the hours.
So white primer would be better then?
Okay, so I'm giving my Mims a little home refurb, and I want to get a decent finish.
I did my 182 wheels using Halfords primer, paint and lacquer. I got a really good finish, mainly through fastidiously sanding each stage to keep things smooth.
Anyway, Halfords aren't cheap and I'm sure...
Got started on the wheels today.
This will probably a fairly long job :(
This is how they started:
Then, with the help of this:
I did this:
Need to find somewhere that sells a decent primer and then get some paint on them. Judging by my 182 wheels on the RB, these should look...
He's a busy guy, and I'm very easy going.
There's no rush, and I know him on a "mates" level, so I trust him. I'm trying not to get overly stressed by things like this, there's no point :)
I do understand where you're coming from, but I trust that he won't fob me off. If he does, I owe you a...
He's coming next week, I'm taking the gamble he won't need to take the car apart again. Last thing I want to do is lose a weekend and not do anything, just for him to say he would have been fine to mask up and respray/whatever.
