Sounds like the problem I had with my stealth. I filed out the slots on the OE bracket so you could slide it further away from the backbox hangar. Worked a treat...no knocks anymore.

Sounds okay...my best so far in my Mk2 172 is 36 @ 80mph on the m-way. Think a few people on here have bettered 40mpg though.

Agree...the 172/182 models are very engaging to drive which can easily make up for any losses in all out speed.

Boring old 172.....ah yes, that's the way I like it! Think aftermarket spoilers etc on any car are s**t and a waste of money but that's just my preference....each to their own.

I though aux belt was 5 years like the cambelt or 36k....whichever is sooner so it should be done if your car is at 36k. Also worth considering is coolant/brake fluid change which is due every 4 years

Indeed....subtle is the way to go and if you are going to cosmetically modify a car, just make sure it's done properly and with quality parts. I'm going to change a few bits and pieces on my car but stuff you can't see anyway like ecu and brake hoses etc.

Good advice...would have thought it was common sense to go lightly on everything (brakes/throttle) in icy & snowy conditions.

Lovely car...looks identical to my 172. The paint on these MY 172s is called iceberg silver...definately looks good.

I've got a car the same age Sneeks with well below average mileage. I would suggest getting it done next year along with the aux belt as that'll be your five years up.

This has been done before many a time. I not a big fan of modifying cars to be 'lookalikes' or cosmetic stuff but everyone has to start somewhere.
