must have missed my post so I'll repeat it. Check your brakes!!! the rears on mk3's are pretty bad for sticking. We freed off a set (mates wife's car) and MPG went right back up to 55
ds2500 are definitely a track pad!! thats why they run without anti squeel shims.
For a near standard car I'd spec just ordinary Pagid disks and pads on the front, and genuine rear disks with Motrio pads.
and just to dispell another myth, Bembo HC's are not an upgrade. They're simply a...
mk3 should be nice on 17s if you have well chosen tyre sizes. Not tried apex springs on a mk3 and dont intend to to be honest. fair play though, it's your car and you're happy :)

I recon I could make a 172 inlet fit a 182 head. Bit of a faf but not impossible. Trim one of the mounting lugs off the breather plate and it should go
well thank god for that, pain in the arse but at least it's finally tracked down (after 18 months!!!!!)
Seen that cracking before, and it's normally down to there being fluid in the bolt hole, or too much grease on the bolt when it's torqued. You get a hydraulic effect which finds the weakest...
Cages make so much difference to how the car feels. Can vouch for how good the OMP is too. definitely improved in the last couple of years, never want to fit another custom cages one again now!
That's a lot of toe out??!?!?!?!!!
