There's a washer (about 3mm thick) in between the runner and the subframe. Remove it and the driving position is even better. Doesn't serve a function IIRC.
I think the bolts are already attached to the subframe, just undo them. The nuts to attach the subframe to the car, are the one's already in use on the car, just re-use them.
Those 2 bolts are for attaching the seatbelt/pretensioner to the subframe. You need an additional 8 bolts (4 each seat) for attaching the subframe to the car.
I can't remember the strength required (Paul told me), but they are cheap on ebay.
Have you removed all the screws(included the ones under the dash strips, and the plastic clip above the fuse box),, and have you removed the a-pillar covers?
Nope, electric systems are coming along well. In the 225, the hub is isolated from the steering system (as I understand it), same for the 197. The extra torque and the lsd in the R26 give it good steering feel (I've been told/read), and thats the same electric system.
Not the steering fella, IIRC the 197 uses the same hub set-up as the meg 225. Designed to eliminate torque steer, but the 197 has a lot less torque. It's why the steering has no feel.
Thats the one. Big alarm bell, was the service book. There's a page ripped out, after the 2nd service. Looking at the subsequent mileage, I'm sure it's been clocked by that owner, and he's removed the service history to hide the miles the car had done when the service was done.
So true. The car on the 8yr old chassis has such an advantage!;);)
In all seriousness, IMO, the 197's problem is it's steering. Decent feelsome steering allows you to enjoy a car without going crazy speeds. When you don't have that, you have to push and push to get to the point where the chassis...
Just read performance car. Better of getting a Trophy
"it's like the new car (197cup) needed to be at 10/10ths to provoke the same kind of reaction and feedback that the Trophy does at 7/10ths"
"The 197 has a better top-end, but it merely kept up with the Trophy rather than gaining"
"The 197cup...
