I wouldn't. Fuel and servicing are nasty, and the value's aren't as solid as they used to be. Might be a 14k car to buy, but they cost a lot to run compared to a 172.
I've owned both. Much much better off getting a lower mileage 172 than a high miler 182. Straight line, no difference. The 182 handles slightly better, but not enough to justify the difference. I prefered the handling of my 172 on eibach pro's to the 182cup. 7k would get you into a 50k mile Trophy.
Not mine (yet). The 172 goes tomorrow, had a lot more interest in the Trophy. Soon as thats gone I'm getting a ph1 172, buckets, coilovers, exhaust, cams, respray+ph2 rear.
