Should a rebuilt F4R engine (RS200) eating oil after run-in?

100% strip down and rectify issues to sort this, no other option. Your next step needs to be an independent inspection by another specialist with a report. I would personally use diamond motors renault specialist ltd if your close to nottingham. I would decline any offer of trying an oil...

    172 Cup OEM+

Thats normal/correct temp gauge position for these, every one ive driven lands in the same postion when fully up to temp. The cts rarely fails from experience, lower readings are due to weak thermostat. Longer crank when hot could be due to fuel system or tdc issues at a guess.

Should a rebuilt F4R engine (RS200) eating oil after run-in?

Rings are bedded in after 20 miles or so, oil consumption definitely wont get any better than it is, only worse.

Should a rebuilt F4R engine (RS200) eating oil after run-in?

Oil comsumption is far too high If its been rebuilt, especially if standard pistons. Needs a leakoff test doing to confirm, but id assume ring/bore issues.

Would be nice, pump out the front of the house  25 years ago when spicey fuels were not so easy to find, my mate used to do homebrew high octane fuel. From memory it was shell optimax 97,avgas and something else in it which i forget. Was quite spicey and burned like alcohol, he reckoned it...

Fingers crossed! Be just my luck if there is a summer drought of 99 octane with all of the cars legal for the first time in years.

Only the expensive ones work, and to get 95 octane up to 99 etc your going to need a fair bit. For instance vp octanium is around £25 and id imagine you will need to use the full us quart per tank to see the required increase.

Cheers mate! I couldnt say no to the cover. One of the lads i know who ran loads of the Extra vans in the late 90s as a courier business, said hes never seen one so must be super rare. Id imagine most were ply lined instead as cheaper. Wonder whats going on with super unleaded at the moment...

Updates. Extra van has been daily driver for last 3 days doing around 500 miles, with a 425mile journey to Birmingham on Sat. The reason for the trip to Birmingham was to collect an oem renault fitted plastic rear van liner for the Extra van. I had seen one of these 10+ years ago in...

Steering inner rods - which ones ?

It wont hurt to change the tie rods and track rods for new, but from experience the creaking when turning will be a bottom balljoint. Had that issue a few times on these.

Forgot to add above, changed pollen filter in the morning. Was discusting as expected. With the tyres, oil and plugs done took the extra home and took it out for a drive round locally, steady away to use this old fuel up. No more misfiring or nothing and done approx 50 miles. Mpg has gone up...

Updates. Extra used as a van today! I had 70ltrs of oil to dispose of and the front o/s tyre needed resealing on the bead on the 225 as it kept going down. Van life. Extra van works as intended. Flying along as usual. My mate popped the bead off the tyre to reseal. This highlighted the...

    T. Turbo is back

Updates. Taxed today as 1st of the month. F me the tax is expensive on these compared to megane! Weather outstanding today so took it out. First stop was to my mates garage for alignment as was a mile out due to new steering rack. On geo lift. Set toe to usual ten mins of toe out overall...

Stick to the bilstein b14, bang on for road use. Damping adjustment on bc is sketchy at best. Usually bouncy/soft or hard as fcuk from experience.

The whole lecture about garage always gets blamed is b****cks really. Mot is only one day a year, and i bet they would say no problems on the day if investigated. Customer must have changed it after mot.
