The reason I say battery is because of the alarm going. Did you check it at the time when it wasn't starting? Sounds like a plate has broken up.

Look at how it would be when you double it's stats. 400bhp from a 2.0 6cyl. 1.8 20vt's are reaching 350 regularly and being reliable road engines.

200bhp/litre isn't a massive milestone like they're making out...

Not quite a clio, but a scenic with a VVT F4R, belt was changed on time by a Renault dealer over in Wales that has since gone bankrupt. My suspicions are that they didn't change the idlers as the tensioner is like a roller skate bearing.

It's well known that a good k04 on a 20vt will not break 300bhp, and that Rods will s**t themselves after 300lb-ft certainly, yet AMD seem to achieve 340bhp and iirc I have seen 350lb-ft pmsl. My 2871r only did 321lb-ft

how can you hear that????? you can hear the injectors clicking maybe, but you won't hear fuel itself. Pull the line off and see if you have fuel.

have you checked the fuel rail to see if your seeing fuel?
