This happened with my 172. Cleaning the sensor fixed the problem only for it to come back worse couple of months later. You can get a new crank sensor from a motor factors for £25-30.

Mileage isn't an issue if the car has been looked after properly. Fletcher's 172 is 120k+ still with original clutch and gearbox, used to be as quick as mine on 71k until I had JMS work their magic.
