im only going with what a few of the renault techs on cliodci.net have said they are not to use 10w40 as its causing issues with turbos something to do with turbo thrust bearings & thrust plate oil feeds they say. im no expert, turbos not my thing lol
i had this on my 172, changed the track rod ends helped slightly but never cured, also had full alignment along with new bottom arms and bushes and ball joints still nothing, turned out it was the inner track rods between the rack and the track rod ends that were worn, changed them and it was...
i genuinely didnt beleive they would be THAT different but they are, i loved my ph2 its the longest ive kept a car at over 2yrs but the ph1 is awesome!! keeping it for the distant future anyway
no chance, internals wont take it, the dci 100 had to have uprated internals fitted over a 65/80 as they were throwing pistons during testing apparently, i doubt they then went to the effort to uprate them to withstand 120BHP more with massive torque.
then we get to the fuel pump/injectors...
prolines are black are they not? possibly they are sportlines then, i just thought they were a bit low for sportlines.
actually just found this pic of it with my old 100 on sportlines and they both look about identical ride height, 172 slightly lower at the front but it has the heavyer engine...
trying to work out what springs my ph1 is running, ive got no receipts for them as they were on the car when i got it.
the coating has completely rusted away, however there are tiny traces of red on them so this would point towards possibly eibach however ive never saw a set rust like this and...
belts are 5yrs 72k what ever comes first (that is the important bit, just because its only done 20k doesnt mean it doesnt need the belts done!) £500 to £700 to have them done, so keep that in mind when buying, its a specialist or dealer only job so again keep that in mind, if a garage says they...
interior doesnt look that bad if you get a fresh looking one in good nick i prefered the ph2 interior when i had one when it was new but these days the ph2 interior isnt that great anyway so the ph1 doesnt look to bad, infact ive started to like it more than the ph2 one! the buttons and stuff...
ive also found the ph1 has a much better mid range pull, dunno if its just my car but it pulls better mid range than my old modified ph2, but the ph2 pulled better top end when modded.
im glad i made the swap, dash isnt that bad ;)
no need for rear discs just do fluid, lines and uprated pads.
if it was me id go for 280mm 172 setup up front but it needs hubs, suspension, ARB and bottom arms.
as above battery not having enough juice will be causing extra strain on the alternator causing it to squeel, its worse when you have heaters. lights or using the steering so usually these will make it squeel
100's are more reliable than the others if anything, they have stronger internals! gearboxes are fine i put 190lbft thru one for a year/20k miles of abuse and it never gave me a single problem and never dropped under 50mpg, was f**king fast!! even when it was standard it would have shown my...
yeah same box with longer ratios, 3,000rpm in 6th is 105mph lol i like it, however i also like my JC5 in my 172 which most people hate, never had a problem with renault gearboxes bar a diff exploding at 3.5mph in my dci 65 lol
clutch shouldnt be too much of a problem running launch control, obviously its going to wear it quicker but the cars dont have massive torque anyway so its not really a problem.
next up is a 182 manifold and decat then an overrun map so it should sound awesome!
