because they then need replaced every bloody year, even sooner if you have a heavyer system than standard which most aftermarket ones are! or else your exhaust just doesnt sit properly! not good if you have an under bumper system
dont know the setup on the 1400 but it might be the flexi pipe or nut bolt and spring fitting kit what ever one it has best bet is to pop the bonnet and get someone to rev it and see if the noise is coming from down the back of the engine.
non RS exhausts are actually pretty decent compaired...
very possibly its had a cracked arch liner and chances are with all the rain were getting the water could be getting into the fuse box area, fun fun fun! ill take the fucker apart next day off see what i can see!
all very well but not going to give half the mpg of a dci not going to be as cheap to tax or insure either! and imo you would then be worth paying the bit extra for an RS model by the time uve declaired your remap to insurance
ive not driven both but ive driven my standard 172 and then driven my otherwise standard 172 with a 182 manifold and decat fitted and was a big difference in mid range torque, and imo mid range torque is what makes a car fast in day to day driving, instead of having to drop to 2nd gear you just...
just drive it to the scottish RR day everyone in this country gets away with everything anyway so you'll just get a slap on the wrist!! - thats a joke dont actually do it! lol
anyway back to the questions, as you know with these cars it could be making any power depends what it starts with...
ive done some basic stripping, spare wheel, toolkit, isofix bar, sound deadning here and there but nothing majour, all bits that are hidden so the car looks fairly standard! but to be honest i cant see it affecting it to much. also keeping in mind the wheels save a bit of weight on the cup and...
hi guys and girls, got a wee issue with the dci, every time i brake i get the light under the fuel light (sorry dont know what its called!) poping on then when i come off the brakes it goes off, if i come straight off the brakes and onto the accelerator the light doesnt go off untill i come off...
pmsl thats the attitude ive got with the dci, i washed it in december after wales rally WRC and its never been washed since!
this wee beastie coming to the RR day i hope!!
i changed mine on my 172 @ 5yrs and 35k miles for brand new 172 cup dampers all round, new bottom arms with bushes and changed the ARB bushes and track rod ends. probably cost a tiny bit more than a set of aftermarket dampers but made a massive difference.
they were designed to handle well as...
anyone know of anyone that makes lower subframes for the standard 172 seats or anyone think of any ideas to make some up? had a shot of a mates civic tonight and felt like driving a van when i got back in! i like oem seats though so fancy some lower subframes!
only type R honda's ive driven have been a B16 and a B18 civic and imo i find vtec a bit boring, its awesome fun to begin with but you get fed up having to hammer the nuts off it everywhere so id be looking for something with a bit more mid range torque so would be the megane F1 for me or...
to be honest both are slow but ive had a 1.2 16v and mum still has one and i couldnt live with one anymore it would kill me but i can live with my 65 no problem due to the torque.
cross country the dci's are quick cars, efortless acceleration in any gear!
mine leaked for about a year before the pump went taking the belt.
BUT as far as i know as fred says it leaks thru the bearing and I THINK but not 100% sure that the coolant helps to lubricate the pump, but i was using tap water as i was fed up buying coolant for the thing! so thats possibly...
yeah most mates have imprezas, evos, theres an RX7, a skyline and a few type R hondas, clio costs half as much to run and just as fun! well nearly! hehe
100% waterpump, they MUST be changed when the belt is done. i didnt do mine the first time, it eventually seazed taking the cambelt and engine with it! lol
cheers mike your a star.
