DO NOT remove the head to helicoil it no need, my mate shot the plug from Cyl 3 (common problem) and it was done with the head in place.
cambelt needs specialst tools from renault, other manufacturers make tools for other F4R's but not for the RS one
a mate of mine told me as soon as u insure a car as a coversion its a group 13 car minimum (may not be true though) can insure it as a kit car cheaper if over 21 i think.
u will never in 1 million years do a 1.6 conversion to a mk2 ph2 for £500 lol
its just as much work as doing a 172...

butler 205, that happened on my 172 when the rear disks and pads and front disks and pads were badly worn because the level of fluid had dropped in the resovouir. i thought this was the same problem but its got brand new front brakes on it!
both the stop light and handbrake light are flickering on and off when going over bumps etc, thought it was possibly due to the brake fluid being low in the resevoir due to needing pads and disks but changed them today and its still doing it so im assiming its some sort of loose conection etc...
performance wise im assuming they are all roughly the same but im looking for the best ie, what filters better! and what size filter im looking for?
its for my 172, relocated battery so doing a cup racer setup behind the headlight and got some mental heat padding stuff to make an enclosure for it!
they map well was sure a gain of around 7bhp and similar torque gain was to be had, think thats on a standard one too, more to be had with different exhaust, cat and filter
small engine petrols imo are a bit crap to drive, our 1.2 isnt that smooth when changing gear or pulling away, where my dci with 3x more miles on the clock feels so much more refined!
id go for at least 1.6 16v if not dci, my dci doesnt feel that much slower around town than my 172 does due to...
