I get 11 on track with an ancient dizzy and rotor powered F7P turbo engine with 300bhp, so god knows what people do to the F4R's to do that badly
shite mapping? ;)
I sell them at 300 a set for good condition with all caps present and no tyres, sold around 3 sets recently for that before I even had a chance to advertise them
minters I would sell for more, for example I have a set I had painted in BMW graphite grey recently and wrapped in PE2 tyres and they...
ai as above chap am afraid, if you made it have it into 2nd at high revs in 3rd its very possible its chewed the engine too, hence the none starting :(
however, its worth doing the simple checks such as making sure the crank (TDC, or whatever you want to call it) sensor is in position and...
which it will do, with it parked facing uphill the oil will flow to the back of the sump and the oil sensor is at the front, with less oil hitting it now as its all gone rearwards
blowing a hole in the box shouldn't stop the engine firing unless its somehow fubar'd the flywheel or knocked the box off the bell housing so the crank sensor can no longer read.
I've put a hole though several boxes and locked up/stripped gears and never not been able to start the engine with...
I just use a square file or similar to give a good bit of leverage, sack buying something specific and if your caliper wont wind back with that or a flat blade screwdriver its pretty much kippered and needs replacing anyway ;)
as said chap, if its done right and well then their shouldn't be any issues at all with rust or warping. mines absolutely fine, inside and out, and its not like the car hasn't had a bit of abuse with the panel in.
that's with no roof lining as well, which adds structural strength as its glued...
mine was a bit more of a job than normal due to wanting to have the roof channels removed, a normal swap would be a lot easier as its just tack welded and panel bonded at the channels, no need to cut down into the pillars etc.
standard:
mine:
had the roof skin replaced on my mark one four years ago, still fine now :)
has smoothed and filled roof rails too and gets used on track on full slicks, no buckles/splits or marks in the new panel at all
so if whomever does the job knows what they are doing, it can be done well and done to...
be careful, as mentioned if you don't silence it well then it'll fail most dB limits on most open track days. used to be a few mk1 clios with naturally aspirated engines and side exits, they were loud as hell
I have one on my mk 1 but its turbo'd and had 2 boxes in it, was great as no rattles...
theres a sort of catchup one here, but may not be exactly what your looking for chap, its an older F7P powered Mk1 vehicle ;)
