It wouldn't be an easy decision but as an entry level car i would take the VX220.
Either way, if you can afford it, something you have to before you grow up!
Well, i'm sure my early websites were probably worse but i hope your not getting paid for that.
A little basic? That menu font needs anti-aliasing or changing.
We all know Fred is hardcore, so its cool, but i unlike him i don't have the ability to swap things in 30 seconds like he does. My ears would also have to tolerate the boom on the M25 and my girlfriend's moaning about the noisy car...
So is the noise any diff Neil?
Yep, both car and photos are amazing.
As i said before, this is my fave mk1 172. It's very clean, nothing fussy on it. Leave it how it is. I would normally say yes to a mk2 bumper but i like it with the exhaust cut out...
I am wondering if it's worth getting one, they are over twice the price as a de-cat but at least i won't have the hassle and expense of swapping it over and back for every MOT (and can feel at one with the trees).
The thing is though, i want some kind of improvement in noise for it to be worth...
Nice car, i think the GTA wheels would smarten it up. If you look up a bloke called Rhoddy Harvey-Bailey he sells a Eibach/Koni kit that really transforms the 156.
It is hard to see how they will make the car better without hiking the price. I can't see them developing the engine anymore, unless they suprise us all with a turbo.
They could probably shave a bit of weight by reducing soundproofing, changing the wheels and having a more basic/race interior...
FK use Koni dampers, so you can't really say H&R are better by default. I have a feeling the H&Rs feel better because of the spring rate, not the dampers. I can't believe the FKs on full soft would be worse than the H&Rs...
Ali, i agree, coilovers are pretty much pointless. You are just making...
Torque has it's benefit with any gear acceleration.
As Tom mentioned on the first page, i think it's probably a weight issue. If you read EVO about 90% of the cars tested are heavier than stated.
I would be confident that almost every CTR is bang, but as we know already from the 172/182...
Will look forward to your review mate. I might buy one next year when they have hopefully ironed out any niggles and prices aren't so high! I bought a Modus today and got a 15% discount from the dealer, he reckons he can do the same for the 197 if i come back after Christmas...
