I kinda agree, my Clio is a long term car for me, so what i look at is not throwing money at pointless mods, but improving things as they wear out, make the car better to drive and make it indevidual (sp) as thats what moddings all about really :)
example iv fitted Prolines on mine, but...
mines now 127,000, in its life its NEEDED a new alternator, n/s driveshaft, icv and exhaust
Iv replaced out of choice:
uprated brakes
new renault shocks with prolines
new front wishbones
the car is still on its original box and clutch, and even with just a stainless exhaust kicked out 141bhp@...
lol cheers matey il get some more pics up 2moz, spent 6 hours on her today, done ALOT of work
cheers chap, side repeaters were off ebay, anything better than the orange ones! the wheels are a dark silver, im refurbing them again soon
its a tough subject to talk about really, i mean yeah clio's do hang on well, and handle well, and they give the confidence to push on than some other cars do, i mean an impreza WILL corner as fast as a clio (on most roads) but have to be pushed alot harder to do so (im an ex scooby owner) but...
i thinking if you have refitted the cv boot gaiter that all the grease has come out, that happened to mine, so i packed it back full of grease but the joint still went. dont drive it far like it mate but il lay a bet thats what it is, tuerning left relieves a bit of pressure off the joint thats...
its held on by bolts mate, it will be fairly self explanitory once its up in the air, just to warn ya its not difficult just bloody fiddly and its easy to trap ya fingers so watch it!
mate strip the rear pads out, and clean up with a wire brush, clean any brake dust or much you see on the caliper itself, or by the securing slider clean up and re copper grease everything, iv done this on many clio's now, quite common because the rear brakes do such little work
mines now on 127,000 and regularly gets driven properly, i let it warm up and cool down, treat it with respect and service it every 6k or so, and has behaved perfectly.
only things iv had to replace have been the exhaust which snapped, the idle control valve, and the n/s drive shaft as muggins...
i have new std shocks from renault and eibach proline springs mate, a brilliant combo, alot tighter and handles better but not a harsh ride. best of both worlds
airbox off, battery out, support gearbox, undo top nut in the middle of the mount (you may need a zip gun to shock the nut loose, as if you turn it by hand the mount tends to twist) then undo the two bots either side (go carefull as the bolts can fall through the holes) then get some big pipe...
