lol just making sure you get the right stuff chap well i use castrol as i get it cheap through work,but any decent named 5w 40 would do fine,iv used a few different ones over the years and iv not really noticed any difference

maybe its all the little things? longer gearing, thinner tyres, lower weight, not much on there own but together i would imagine make up a few mpg?

iv just dont 312 miles on my latest tank, it cost £38.49p to fill up @ 1.00 pr ltr so with my bad mathematics skills i make that out at 36.97 mpg? impressed myself with that one!

yes that mileage will be fine if the engine is healthy mate, get it checked over to be sure (compression check etc)

not always mate, that would be the easiest and most simple thing to check first im guessing this as its pretty low mileage so if its only had short trips that could be the cause

id say a blocked breather at a guess mate, check breather pipes
