easy job, looks a lot harder than it is. just a bit time consuming for the sake of changing a cover. ideal time to replace aux belt if it's due as well.
try running a tap down the hole, you might be lucky and get away with slightly longer bolt.
logic dictates you could run it with engine loom and ecu etc but you'd need throttle pedal or at least a signal for the throttle body. afaik despite canbus not finding the bits missing it should run but i could be completely wrong though.
once the bolt is out the universal joint will flip out of the way, from memory with the bolt hole at the bottom running horizontal the uj will flip up.
