1st job was to drop all the fluids. My car has a magnetic sump plug & when I undone it I was greeted by quite a lot of water which seemed odd at the time, then came the oil followed by a bit of light being shed upon what damage I'd done
Once I'd got the downpipe off, I crawled out from...
Time for a little update.
I failed to get my track car ready for a trackday at Castle Combe back in June so ended up taking the ATR. Because 2 of my semi slick tyres were buggered I eneded up taking just 2, fitting them to the front and putting my most worn Potenzas on the back and all I can...
This is due an update
Just for the lolz, hovercar y0!
Super dooper new & better fitting radiator made by Radtec
8 week delay courtesy of Piper being useless, sending wrong lifters then telling porkies that the correct replacements had been made & sent but head fully rebuilt, 16 new...
The mk2 subframe is also different, 182 cup wishbones also look identical but it's tiny differences that are only noticeable if you take lots of detailed & accurate measurements between them that make up the bigger picture
Looking back on my short stint of ATR ownership so far, I've done quite a fair bit to it so I thought it'd be worth collating it together
How it all started, with a bit of a scabby front end but mechanically good
Several months of pretty much hassle free motoring passed with only fitting new...
I wouldn't call it work, the bloody thing has been dumped in the garage & not been touched for 8 months & buying a Honda stopped me from doing anything to it lol!
A short while after the disaster the car was booked in for a full custom exhaust to be made & as the guy doing it had a 6-8 week waiting list to get in we went ahead with it anyway.
1.75 inch primaries into 2 inch secondaries then 2.5 inches all the way to the back
After the exhaust...
I think I've got a unique problem to try & get around. Background info 1st, this is for when I'm not at home so a wifi based solution isn't what I'm after. I want to use my phone - which has unlimited data - to watch netflix but as I despise watching stuff on a small screen I want to show it on...
It was contaminant free on the freshly painted bits then after a couple of days inside the painters unit it went straight into my mates unit where I spent a few days crawling all over the freshly done bits whilst shouting & swearing, crawling along a floor caked in all sorts of car fluid related...
I'd like a bit of advice regarding new paint & looking after it as my car cleaning/detailing skills/knowledge is limited to blast with snow foam, the wash mitt & 2 buckets method of washing, clay bar follwed up with super resin polish & extra gloss protection
I've just had the front...
I'd say yes as it's a case of fit & forget and be left with a problem that you'll never have to worry or think about again. As long as you fit a sandwich plate with a thermostat that is
If the oil gets too hot it basically gets too thin to do it's job properly so could potentially munch the engine. With a cooler and good quality oil you can essentially just forget about it, not have to worry & just keep hammering the car.
I did just that on my 1st ever trackday, paranoid as...
It's the same with mk1's of the high comp itb'd variety, the VAG (not sure if it's a polo 1 though) rads people use don't seem to cope very well, they're fine with standard comp though. Just 1 of those annoying extra expenses when going for the silly spec engines :)
Having itb's on mine makes it easier to get at the filter but it's a mk1 with F7 engine, filter in the same place as an F4. Must just be a mk2 problem then lol!
Filter & backplate from Jenvey http://www.jenvey.co.uk/
I'm a bit stumped as to why you'd need to remove the bumper to change the oil filter tbh :S but the parts to relocate it are readily available from rallydesign http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/index.php?cPath=340
I've got to display a tax disc sized parking permit in my windscreen, the funny thing is that the permit shows that the tax on the parking space at work has been paid for so can't escape the b*****d tax part of it
There's only 1 thing I hate about this, after watching the 1st 5 episodes 1 after the other, the wait for the 6th annoyed the hell out of me & the wait for the next installment is killing me lol!
I've been driving a gutless n/a volvo estate rammed full of tools & other assorted crap as my daily for a while so the mpg of the accord will be a treat
For me it's just about having something that's quite nice & civilised to use day to day but still interesting enough to have a bit of...
I'm on the ring road near city hospital, can take you for a spin & show you what to look out for ;)
If it's any help, I'd take one of these over a 172 without batting an eyelid, it's a much nicer car to be in imo & the diff makes such a massive difference
I've been after 1 of these for a while now & this 1 came up for sale at a price I couldn't afford to say no to.
Picked it up over the weekend & it has a few unusual goodies on it like a bose stereo & climate control from the type v, it's also got leather door cards, electric rear windows and...
