heat in the bay isn't really an issue with a track car moving at 80+mph (on average)
the "best" pick up area for air is where the ABS pump sits from what i've found
not always, the timing could be out and you never noticed! sounds daft but i drove a phs1 172 with cira 150bhp at fly (didn't know this at the time and that's coming from me "mr expert" alledgely ;)) granted i proceeded to overtake a gallardo superleggera round the outside, in the wet at oulton...

going to a normal garage with an RS is asking for trouble! (i see the fruits of other idiot mechanics **** ups daily)
yeah check the engine mounts, common for them to wollop the subframe with knackered engine mounts giving it billy big ones in first gear
fitting a standard system is the worst thing you can do, they're made of cheese
i've got an RS4 system at work in bits, i'll get pictures
they use thin ass sheet for their boxes (i recon they're bought in) pipework is fine, its always box issues where they crack
cos they can't weld! i've done all that test s**t too, inc hounsfield and izod (can't remember which was weld related now!)
its not just the clios, the 08 WRX STI ones crack all the time too
7800rpm is perfectly safe for a standard bottom end, its not to do with power having the rev limit that high, for the track day boys and racers etc it helps out on track
