Oh, and I have yet to spot another clio 172 (I have seen 1, once) other than my own.
but then again my GF says that I not the most observant of people.. (true)
I didnt take offense that my car looks almost like every other clios and I like that about the mk2, but surly you could also say the MK1 looks like bog standard MK1s (at least the MK2s got 16") ???
I really like the subtleness of the styling on the 172, unless you know what it is, you are...
You can, you just wouldnt be driving legally (unless you had a medical condition that prevented you from wearing one, or are reversing)
It was the government that decided that, not the manufacturors.. and after all, under Tony Blair we now live in a dictatorship
I dont see the point anyway.. so your car can do 200mph.. if you dont live in Germany (or anywhere else with no speed limits, or tracks) there is no point...
0-70 is where it is all about for me, at least you can stay legal, till you get on the track ofcourse, then higher speeds might count.
Well that would be her fault for being a stupid person that switches off things she doesnt know anything about.
The same could be said about traction control, she takes a corner too fast and has accedently switched off traction control which would have got her round safely, instead she in now...
Yes, despite everything I have said about how much I love ABS, I would still like a switch installed as I dont think you should be forced to use the system if you dont want to.
Personally i would have it on for all but track days etc..
Right.. thats IT !!!
*gets real serious*
TONIGHT, car is going into my garage, and I am gonna have a look at this engine mount..
can you take the battery out without disconnecting it.. as I dont know the radio code for the stereo..
Oh ye, it deffinatly sounds asthough it is comming...
You are forced to use it because as you can not predict the exact level of grip you are bound to encounter the ABS system.
I for one like to stab the brakes on a wet surface (or at least I used to) just to test for grip, and how much is there before breaking traction.
This is very hard to...
I still say ABS is one of the best safety features introduced after the seatbelt.
I hardly think manufacturors had reverse donuts in mind when they were thinking of safety.
As stated by myself in another thread I would like to see the option to be albe to switch it off, rather than be forced...
Regardless,
I think I will have a look at this engine mount. It really cant do any harm, I took it to renault and they said there was nothing wrong, so if I find a loose engine mount and fix the problem I will go mental on them.
So just to re-itterate .. what is axel tramp ?
I guess its down to personal choice then.. cause I thought exactly the oppisite to you VR6man,
I think the MK1 front looks outdated, and I really love the xenon headlights on the MK2. The MK1 looks tired and old IMHO
okay in that case, could you explain fully in lamens terms (or as close as you can get) what "axle tramp" is.
My car only bangs under wheelspin, if It gets the grip it doesnt bang.
A conversation with Renualt and myself...
ME: Hi
RENAULT: Hello sir.
ME: My car makes a banging noise when...

oh and as for speedo accuracy, get yourself a GPS and check the speed on that, it is more accurate. especially at higher speeds.
My old Micra speed used to be about 5mph out at 60mph.
eg. it was indicated 60mph, actually doing nearer 55mph
is it just me or is does the clio seem really stable at higher speeds, not at all scary.
at 90mph there is no vibration through the steering wheel or anthing, my old pug 205 GTi (okay it was a lot older) used to shake rattle and roll like there was no tommorow, and that was at 75mph.. hehe.

dunno, but if you get the knocking fixed, let me know where and what I should have replaced.
My car also suffers from the knocking noise, although not to the extent of making the CD player jump
That is exactly what ABS DOES DO ! it releases the wheel once it locks up, nothing more, nothing less.
It is YOU putting your foot down on the break peddle for the level of traction available on the road, that causes the wheel to lock in the first place.
Im curious as to what you thought ABS...
