Doubt it for that money unless he bought parts? But I doubt it very much. Probably not changed the idler/tensioner as that might means it was a waste of time. And you can't tell the condition of a timing belt or any other belt by that matter by just by looking at it.
The QH ball joints will be fine, renault only sell you a new arm hence the cost whereas QH make just a ball joint hence cheaper. Most local factors will be able to supply QH stuff.
If you mean the oval plate sticker is gone off the drivers pillar theres a plaque on the top of the dash visible through the bottom right of the windscreen as you look at it and its stamped on the chassis under the drivers seat.
If its a Ph2 with the big spring tensioner and a/c then its a FF. Very wierd fault, would guess its got something to do with the power steering though if it only happens on full lock haven't heard anything like that before.
Usually in the manifold afaik as it needs to be post throttle body I think. Although not 100% with turbo engines.
It could be using MAF though so check for both.
