Yes you need to get under the car to fit the front seats, there will be 4 bolts for each seat under the car to undo. They you should be able to lift the seat out and unclip the airbag/pretensioner connectors.

Will do until you put the 2x correct value resistor in the airbag connector.

Cable snapped, they'll need to cut the grill to get the catch to open from there. Don't let them go on about cutting the bonnet or anything stupid. They're reasonably competant down there so you should be ok.

Any feeling on the release at all? The cables probably snapped if not.

Did he have the bonnet up? You'd need it down to heat it up enough for the coolant to get hot enough for it to cut in usually.

Easier/cheaper to stick a replacement box in it, it'll probably want the 2nd gear syncro changing. They don't like hard/fast changes at all.
