Thats what I put in my old 172 and will be putting in the meggy + braided lines.
Superior in every way, doesn't feel as raw as the clio but thats why its so much more comfy. Fun factor is still there in spades though and effortless power too no need to wring the neck out of it like the 172.
Only downside is i'm currently getting 26mpg round town which is ten down on the 172...
Thats 100% gearbox oil look at the colour and it'll smell like shite. Bad news its leaking there too, thats a box split clean up and reseal to stop that. Theres no proper gasket between the bellhousing and the main gearbox casing its an instant gasket job and I guess that ones seen better days...
Old one did have black superturismos on yes, but theyre were 15s and these are 18s and the megane is 5 stud and the clio 4 stud.
They're the standard wheels and completely different, similar looking for sure though.
Yeh because the wires will still be shorting out/grounding, how bad is it? The loom needs repairing/replacing not the ecu unless its got damaged through the bad loom.
Got 4.5k for it p/x which is inline with the glasses guide for an good not showroom example, didn't get offered better anywhere else. Private sale rating was £5-5.5k iirc, the dealers are trying to shift it for £6295 but they're dreaming.
Haven't i'm afriad, the ECU is mounted on the back of the engine (don't ask!) theres a cover on the top it which is a pig to get off iirc. It cuts into the loom there with the movement of the engine, if its still on there get the cover off and leave it off.
This a pre 2004 1.2 16v? It probably wants a new loom rather than the ECU, the anti-tamper cover on it cuts through the loom and causes these problems. It may even be repairable if isn't too bad, and its unfortunately common on the early D4F lump.
You must've really trashed it to get 2nd instead of 4th as there'd be a fair ammount of resistance and people wonder why they kill gearboxes. Once engaged its fine though, just engine damage left really.
How long it you let it overrev for? Should be ok but don't make a habit of it.
Depends what you call an arm and a leg, its costing me £1800 not bothered in the slightest you can't take it with you and its worth it to me. Thats the car I wanted and thats the cost i'll pay unfortunately.
Forge intercooler, samco hoses and remap are in the pipeline. Loving it so far so much...
Well it went wednesday actually, to keep it in Clio media as it went:
And the beast that replaced it  :D
Boost ftw!
More pics of the meggy here: http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?p=4158107#post4158107
Got it wednesday and just got round to snapping some quick pics of it while the weather is ok. Loving it so far .
The money shot lol ;)
(love the orange belts but I seem to be about the only one!)
I've just gone 172FF->Cupped 225FF and by god what a difference, agree with everything jonnyboy says imo its the better car in every department. Still can't believe how well it handles for a big car and how composed it is, while the 172 always felt a little on the limit when pushing on the meg...
