Yeh thats about right ^, just checked the invoice I had an upper/lower inlet manifold gasket too and it came to £282. And it was a fun friday job after i'd just finished a week of nights that morning :dapprove:, hope you've got pianist's fingers.
Both my 1.6 and the 172 haven't got roll pins in the shafts, they both had the bearing on the back of the block though so I didn't worry. It seems a bit of a lottery whether they've got them or not.
I just did mine a few weeks ago and all the necessary parts to do the cambelt came to near as makes no difference £300 alone, and that was with trade discount!
Its an 06 plate, am probably wrong just thought it had changed. Have always done all my own stuff but she has to have the book stamped for the warrenty obviously.
I managed 360 miles to a tank a few weeks ago, that wasn't driving it completely like miss daisy either. Was pretty impressed. Record is 420 miles though.
Nope, it does work off oil pressure but the ECU opens a solenoid valve in the head to allow oil to flow into the dephaser to alter the cam timing. The oil pressure doesn't really matter too much.
The solenoid is here behind the oil filler:
Can get 4xNGK PFR6E-10 off the 'bay for about 30 sheets, they're about £15 each from the stealers iirc.

Well on an 02 it won't have ESP or Cruise so they aren't for that. The layout diagrams i've got are for a left hand drive so they aren't much use either.
Yes its got one, instead of a normal pulley on the inlet camshaft you have a dephaser which allows the timing of the cam to be advanced/retarded depending on operating conditions. When the ecu closes a solenoid valve in the head it allows oil to flow into the dephased which iirc advances the...
Assuming the donor car was a late 53 plate then it'll have cruise and esp. If its just a 2 pin plug by the airbag then thats for the satnav speaker, and they all have it so don't worry about that one.
