As if it was advertised with FSH then you may be able to get carcraft to pay for it (doubt it but worth a try) as it hasn't got it if the cambelt change hasn't been done.
I'd give it a few days before going back kicking up a fuss. If its been sat for a few weeks then it'll form rust quite well, how many miles you done since having it?
I've just done mine at 4yrs/35k and didn't want to leave it any longer. Better safe than sorry with this sort of thing imo. £100 is bargaintastic, is a bit of a pig of a job so 100% wants the proper locking tools and ideally someone famailar with the procedure on the modern twin cam renault...
Checking it doesn't help, and yes its likely to snap at this age. It wants changing asap, this is something you should've checked before buying the car really.
Yep thats limp mode, about 45mph top speed and it takes a long time to get there too! Mine was seriously shorting out the throttle pot. circuits to get it to trip, the electric fault warning light comes on and stops on and it won't rev over 3k.
Yes the RS F4R alternator is an 110A jobbie, can't remember what the 1.2 one is but its smaller. Forget about it though they mount completely differently from what I remember.
Will have to give this a try on mine. How did you unclip the seat cover? as the manual doesn't cover the "sports" seats i've since realised. Just underneath?
Just did mine this weekend and while some bits are a bit of a mare its not impossible, it helped me having done it on my previous 1.6 and the setup is very similar.
The soundproofing comes out easy enough which give you some more room, and as you have to remove the mount and support the engine...
I've just changes the aux and cam belt + idlers/tensioners on my 172 last friday, if your not reasonbly mechanically competent I wouldn't bother. Theres no room at all and everythings rather fiddly.
