It evens out the tyre wear...as Mike said above...circuits tend to go primarily in one direction, meaning normally, wear is higher on one particular side of the car.
Also, when out on the road, if you like to push your car a bit, and your daily route involves a few roundabouts, then youll...
The rear de-mist warning light is so bright, that when driving in the dark, I cant ignore it get it out of my peripheral vision, and I find myself continually glancing down at the instruments to see "whats wrong?".
I heard that too (but was never fussed about it on my previous non-performance cars). At the Festival of Speed recently I spoke with the technical bods on both the Toyo and Avon stands regarding track tyres and so on. When asked about turning tyres on the rim, or swapping sides so as to reverse...
I think hes referring to tyres that either have to have a particular side facing outwards, or, that have to rotate in a particular direction.
If you had directional tyres, and were swapping them diagonally (which is the best way to even out tyre wear), then youd need to have all the tyres...
Exactly!!!
Ive been swapping fronts to rears and vice versa on front wheel drive cars to even out tyre wear all my life...never had a problem.
Loads of grip at the rear normally translates to no bite when you turn in, and I like my cars to go where I point them, not push wide and slap my...
Shouldve been serviced already...intervals on 172/182s is 12k not 18k.
Price wise...theres a 2yr old 24k mile example at a dealer local to me, and theyve got it up at £10,500!!! So that one doesnt look too bad...
With regards to insurance, "silence amounts to misrepresentation", with misrepresentation meaning lying.
By not declaring anything...you have in effect said "No my car is completely standard as it left the factory" in answer to their question, which is on every application form, "has the...
Aah, I see.
There was someone there, on the "pit wall" who was calling out times for his friend that was going round during one session, then chatting with the instructors about how hes "the first person to break into the 20s today"...they didnt seem to have a problem with it.
Nothing more scientific than a Nokia 7210 which has a lap timing facility within the stopwatch function, operated by my passenger. So theres going to be an element of "finger" error in the timings, but I wouldnt think it would be more than 1/10 second either way.
Whats a TDO
Id say that all seems pretty reasonable. As regulars who know the track theyre going to have an advantage...I reckon with another day or two I could see the good side of 25...got to work on my braking points, got to work on my braking points, repeat ad infinitum...:D
Id suggest something a little "tamer". When really pressing on in the Cup it moves about loads, which can be very offputting. It stays where you want it to, but it can (and does) attempt to bite on the odd ocassion, especially if you dont wind off the lock and get back on the throttle quickly...
Best I managed recently was a 1:27, with numerous 28s and 29s during that session. Warm day, first out of the paddock, and clear track for 12 laps until the last 2, when I came up on a 4x4 Sierra tussling with a GSI Cavalier, so I really managed to get into the groove.
That was running on...
Having got my first track day out of the way...I need to book another up. It would be good to meet up with some other like-minded Clio owners so...
Any suggestions for a track?
Anyone else have any trackdays already booked?
Mark
When cold I dont get any lumpiness at all, but for the first five minutes it "hunts" at part-throttle around 2.5-3.0 k rpm. Very disconcerting...press the throttle, nothing, press more, still nothing, then all of a sudden it shoots off!
Could this be because Ive got a R-Sport ECU?
How do Clios fair with higher mileage?
Ive knocked out 16k miles in 7 months, half on the motorway, half on A/B roads. Still feels like it did last December, and every journey makes me smile.
Where are you based? If youre anywhere near the South Coast (Sussex, Hampshire) you can jump in mine...
I cant comment on the build quality...cause if I did, Im sure the good luck Ive had will end.
16k miles, and my interior is still rattle and squeak free. The only probs Ive had have been with engine mounts (x2) needing replacing.
If I was after build quality Id have bought an A3. I was after...
I had a V6 Mondeo Zetec-S before getting a Cup.
Would I go back...never.
Best thing I ever did was lose the Dagenham barge. The Cup enetertains on levels the Mondeo could never hope of reaching...and averaging 33mpg is not too shabby either.
Stop considering it...just do it!!!
