Id say if the road was clear then it may favour the V6... but knowing full well how you can man-handle your Cup, it would take a very committed V6 driver to keep up with you on your local stomping ground.
Different; drivers, traffic, roads, conditions - all make a difference... wouldnt have...
Thats exactly what I remember from my training too... the clutch is for pulling away and smoothing tranisition from gear to gear.
The handbrake is for holding the car stationary.
...as I have too. Luxuries, at the end of the day, mean s*** when youre faced with a windy back road, the suns shining, youve got some heat in the tyres, and a huge grin on your face.
Thats why Ive got a 172 Cup... it does exactly what it promises too :D
Mine gets driven as it was intended to be... EVERY SINGLE DAY.
As above though... only when roads are clear, sight-lines are good, and only within the Cups (and my own) limits.
Dont hit the limiter that often, but then I do have an extra 500 rpm to play with over standard Cups :D
The unit itself...

The aerial for the GPS is on the end of a 3 or 5 metre cable which is more than enough to get that comfortably to the back of the car where you can mount it either on the parcel shelf or on a by a side window.
As far as the unit itself goes... it performs exactly like all the reviews said it...
Recently purchased an Origin B2 from Has 16v which arrived on Friday as promised. Was nicely packaged and sent Special Delivery insured for £500.
1st impressions with the kit were;
nicely built and put together
lots of useable features
straightforward to install (with the cable...
I bought Elf oil over the counter in the parts department at the Renault dealer where I get mine serviced...
From the parts department its less than £15 incl. VAT for 5 litres
If the service guys supply it when they change the oil... its about £35 + VAT on the service invoice!!!
Try the...
The A539s are pants in the wet, but in the dry, whilst not offering as much grip as the others, they are very progressive.
For me thats a good sacrifice as...
Id willingly sacrifice the dry grip - if youre looning about in the wet youre a bit of a prick.
I prefer progressiveness over...
So you finally went for a Cup eh? Good lad :devilish:
Let me know when youre at Brands next... could do with another outing. Any thoughts on when youll go?
Ive had my Cup since 28 November 2003.
Ive since covered almost 23,000 miles and problems to date have been;
Squeaky ventilation fan (replaced)
Creaking drivers seat (stripped and greased)
Creaking OSF suspension (ATKIS modification)
Failed engine mounts (replaced)
All the above...
Ill 2nd, 3rd, and 4th that... absolutely terrible.
Being smooth helps though... Ive found snatching the wheel round junctions gives instant understeer with only the slightest bit of damp, but be smoother with your inputs, and they do hang on quite well.
I changed from a Mondeo 2.5 Zetec S to the Cup... would I go back? Never!!!
The Mondeo was a great car, well put together, stacks of space, very tidy handling for a car that weighs 1,450 kgs.
Downsides for me...
No real "fun"... they have huge grip, thanks to the 225/40/18 tyres, but you...
I thought the reason behind the 182 Cup not being as focused/stripped/light as the 172 Cup was down to the fact that when they started offering Aircon on the original 172 Cup... almost all sales from then on were with aircon fitted... hence renault deduced that theres no real market again for a...
I got my Cup from them, placed the order July 03, car delivered 28 Nov 03.
They werent to good on providing info on what was happening, but would respond to phone calls and e-mails well enough. You just have to accept that you need to chase on a regular basis.
The plus point on my deal was...
Leaning and body roll in a corner doesnt mean it has crap handling...its called feedback, engineered into its set-up, and means the limit is a plateau that you can play on rather than a knife adge thatll bite you before you know it.
