The first black one is the injectors because as you said it won't start with that one out.
Non-standard wiring eh? Good old renault strikes again I guess. Can't remember what my old 1.2 looked like, thought it was similar to that.
Modifed mk1 with a cliosport sticker on the back window on the A444 in Nuneaton today, about 4.20ish. Had "clio bird" written on the back.
Anyone on here?
Thats the info i've already got but my fuse/relay box looks nothing like that :S. Have sorted the problem anyway (crushed wire shorting) but i'm interested anyway.
Course not ;). Private runaway and all.

Thats a 0-100 run in mine, without revving it fully because hadn't had it long and figured it out at that point. Would be slightly quicker now imo.
Ride is still comfy enough as standard, the better weighted steering is much better than the 1.2.
Power wise it'll feel quite a bit quicker than your 1.2 but where you'll really notice it is how it'll keep on pulling to a ton rather than running out of puff at 60.
Insurance on a 172 at 18 is f**king lunacy. It'll be £2.5k at the cheapest, unless you've got money to burn then theres no chance but surprise surprise everyone just says "get a 172 etc" seemingly forgetting that these things need to be payed for.
Deffo go for the 1.6, its a FAR better engine...
Yes they changed the design at some point. Changed the cable on both my old 51 plate 1.2 and my current 03 plate 1.6 and the new cable has been different to both of the originals.
As edde said the fuel warning light should come on with about 1 gallon left in the tank, although with mine theres 1 gallon it can't "see" (11 gallon tank and you can only get 9 gallons in when you should be able to get 10 in) so theres a bit more breathing room.
Found it. When my dad put the alternator back on he managed to crush the ac compressor clutch wire so it was shorting on the block, never checked it or even though of it really.
Oh well a repair later and its working like a champion.
Changing my mintex extreme pads for some greenstuff to get rid of the squeel and hopefully a generally better pad. Just wondering what the procedure for bedding them in is as they don't come with any specific instructions just not to heavily brake for the first few hundred miles?
The mintexs...
Earths are fine, and it was working fine when I left work then blew the fuse as i went up the road. Current theory is i've disturbed the feed to the clutch when i did the cam/auxbelt so it moves around and shorts out. Going to check on that one now.
Other than the cup box having a speedo sensor I don't thinks theres any difference to the internals.
Basically if you go round changing gear like the fast and the furious then you'll kill the box very quickly, treat it with some sympathy and it should manage.
Had a thought, would loosing one of the engine earths possibly cause problems like this? Its possible i've broken one when I was changing the cambelt by lifting/lowering the engine and not remembering them.
Everytime I turn the AC on it'll blow fuse F3. Can't really find any information on the relay side of it so I can test through so i'm after any ideas anyone may have?
