Just get a second hand engine and drop it in much less effort than doing the head.
The mechanics rignt piston damge is likly depends how abd it is might just be little nicks and you cna get away but for the effort just get a whole new engine and drop it in.
Theres a wire going to the hub which goes to a sensor check the wire the sensor and the teethed ring on the driveshaft.
Cost depends whats wrong might be free just plug it in.

Black dimond stuffs very good better than many an OE type stuff takes the temps way better I know a Clio racer swears by them he kept wearing disks and them fading when testing abroad in very high temps.
