Have been using the Kangoo a fair bit over the last few days to see if any issues would arise. Done over 300 miles in total and nothing up to now touch wood. Even tested the cooling system in mcds drive through as got stuck in it for ages the other night, rad fan cuts in at 99deg and...
Grease bolts are well worth fitting mate, got them in both of mine. Worth checking the steering rack bush on the passenger side too whilst replacing tie rods.
Weekend updates
Changed exhaust manifold gasket as could hear it blowing when running. Have been dreading this as it looked tight and imagined the engine would need to come off the mounts and be a bit of a carry on.
However the kangoo scuttle fully unbolts so got that off, and that makes loads...
Wont be having much in the back of this as no room  its easy to get carried away when fully loaded.
Back in the day when i used to do a bit of mobile work in my gtt converted Extra van i seen triple figures with engine hoist and a gtt engine in the back. Sharp backed off when i remembered...
Mid week update
Have been using the Kangoo quite a bit to see if any little niggles developed. Have done 90 miles up to now without issue, short runs, motorway, b roads the lot. Runs really well even though it needs mapping to suit the new engine spec.
Fitted a new ply base to replace the...
So with the fuel leak sorted, and new windscreen fitted it was mot ready.
Took it for mot today and straight through its test. Mot tester and the garage staff were amused at the wheelbase  had all the staff looking at it and a few nice comments of how good the conversion looks.
So with...
Updates
On Good Friday (fuel leak Friday!?) dropped the fuel tank to sort the leaking pipe.
Exhaust off in ten mins, so easy on vbands.
Tank off in 20 mins and could not immediately find a leak. I changed the tank sender fitting to a 90deg one and redone the sender connection, to make for...
No proof of engine purchase needed, just a basic letterheaded paper saying vehicle reg no xx, presented at xx mileage with said engine and fuel class.
Nice and easy and did not take long to sort, compared to when i done my Extra 13 years aho, dvla lost the letter and took 3 months to sort.
I had a 172 cup subframe on my old Kangoo and shafts to suit, and with -2.75 deg negative camber did not have much plunge on the shafts at all. On track with stock jc5 129, could hear the cv’s clacking a bit on hard cornering, only noticed the cv noise on my external camera footage as my exhaust...
Leak resolved
Dropped tank and could not find any leaks with pump primed off the ignition a few times and seemed to be holding pressure. No issues with the fitting on the sender outlet - its a very good tight fit and a lot better fit than the oem fuel pipe.
I eventually found the leak after...
Feels like a lifetime since ive updated this
Taxed the ph1 225 yesterday. Its been stored in a dry garage over winter with battery off. Stuck a new battery on as i nicked the old one for the Kangoo, checked fluids and it fired straight up. Brakes werent even rusty, no issues to report.
Quick...
Cheers all. Its been worth building for the comedy value alone.
I fancied a set of clio 200 cup racer 17x8 speedlines on this initially, if i could get it a bit lower as its a large arch to fill. Could still be an option, The et would be better too. I need to try a set at some point.
Working...
Updates
Weeks leave off work, so finally got my Aem afr and Spa dual oil pressure/temp gauge wired in.
Ive been putting this off as ballache to run wiring through to engine bay/up the dash. 8 hours later and done, had dash almost fully stripped to run wiring, as heater box is tight against the...
Ive never seen the fittings until recently and they are great for joining an hose up. They seem to be a good bit of kit with dual o ring seal, but on the downside trying to get it fitted up to the tank with no tension on it is a carry on, i thought i had it sussed with splitting the line. No...
Sometimes turbos like to play up after lack of use, id run it for 50 mile or so if its not too bad and see if it sorts itself out.
If no joy, remove the exhaust at the turbo and check for oil on the turbine wheel as @barnesautos said. If you see any oil, turbo is usually at fault and letting...
@MicKPM im using a torques quick fit connector same as below so its just a pop on to the plastic stub on the megane r26 sender and nip up the cut nut. It seemed to fit ok when fitted initially.
Agreed with rubber probably failing eventually, ive seen some poor quality high pressure fuel hose...
I get the feeling that a cobbled together rubber hose combo would have worked but pikey, go for the expensive option and it leaks :cautious:
Half considering making a steel pipe up so perfect route around tank as i think the an pipe is pulling on the fitting slightly making one of the o...
Evening all
On my Kangoo im running a torques an6 quick fit connector on the tank sender outlet pipe and ptfe braided fuel lines. Something has gone a miss and its started leaking a bit which means dropping the tank to find out the issue as no access hatch :cautious:
Not sure if the fitting...
Updates
Had the Kangoo in for exhaust yesterday. As it only had a decat on, i had a recovery truck booked to take it down. Sods law i got a text at the last min saying the truck had failed its mot badly (transit - rust), nobody else available and as id waited ages to get in and did not want to...
Sounds fine to me, would not worry about fan not kicking in when idling and not driven, prob not hot enough. I only heard my fan cut in on hot days in traffic.
Take it for a drive, get engine hot and then once idling the fan will prob cut in ok.
I tried to get the rad fan to cut in on my f4rt...
As above blow method always works great on a cold engine especially on fussy engines like the R5gtt c1j. Type d coolant tastes like s**t though beware
I always go by the heater, if thats blowing hot with interior fan on, the cooling system is bled.
Last few f4r’s ive done, ive just...
That could be a plan mate. Will see if the new shocks are short enough to keep the springs in. Van shocks are ridiculously long, springs are about 50mm too short currently.
